Personal Statement
I have a background in both medical psychiatry and psychiatric research using neuroimaging. Schizophrenia is associated with characteristic neurobiological pathology and structural neuroimaging findings of the brain, yet it is unknown how they interrelate. I have an interest in the relationship between diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with biological entities such as genetics and their impact on pathology in schizophrenia. With the help of collaborators from Weill Cornell Medicine, I have developed a sophisticated diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) computational pipeline using Nipype. This pipeline obtains fractional anisotropy (FA), and probabilistic tractography for structural network analysis, which can analyze hierarchical communication between brain areas from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) acquisition. I have successfully processed the Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort, which contains 1000 subjects and available Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) array. It is a neurodevelopmental dataset, with age range 8-21, designed specifically to reveal developmental pathology in the brain that may predispose to disease. The results from this work is pending, but will be useful in order to apply for more substantial funding towards career development. The proposed research will use a multimodal strategy in order to demonstrate the relationship between gene expression with developing brain architecture in schizophrenia. I currently hold a clinical assistant professor appointment, but would ideally obtain grant funding in order to continue this research.

Clinical Experience:
2012–2014, Iowa Medical and Classification Center
Iowa City, IA, Psychiatrist, Outpatient clinic in state prison
Conducted outpatient clinic for prison inmates, as a moonlighting experience during residency. This was a competitive position due to its strong salary and benefits at the time. The position is providing me firsthand experience in conducting psychiatric care in the mental health system of the prison, including formularies, protocols, and EMR.
2016-present Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein
Bronx, NY, Assistant Professor
I work as 60% faculty as an Assistant professor for Albert Einstein School of Medicine and clinical psychiatrist for Montefiore medical center, in the Wakefield division. I see general population of psychiatric patients at this community mental health style setting in the Bronx, NY. I also teach medical students and residents.
2018-present Private Practice Psychiatry Independent Contractor
New York, NY, Clinical psychiatrist
I work one day per week as a contractor for an existing private practice, which had been owned by the late Ronald Fieve MD. Dr. Fieve passed away in January 2018, and I work in this private practice clinic weekly in treatment and management of his existing patients.
