I have worked on many GIS/Database projects from design to Application development at different capacity for more than 10 years. Have experience in applying GIS/remote sensing for Engineering geology/Hydrogeology jobs. I have Master of Science (MSc), from the Netherlands, in applied Geological Survey with emphasis on Engineering Geology and GIS applications and Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology.

I am capable in data collecting using mobile equipment and producing information products. I am very familiar with ESRI products like ArcGIS Desktop/Server environment. I have working experience in GIS database manipulation like geodatabase and managed ArcSDE spatial relational database in Server environment. I was Division Head in water utility government office and worked also as project engineer. At this capacity I managed to map water points (bore holes), water mains (major pipe lines), reservoir locations, manholes etc. As a project engineer I was responsible for deep water well drilling project which consists of client, consultant and contractors and I successfully managed the project. Some of the products were various maps like detailed geological, hydrogeological, and groundwater modeling etc.

Have done detailed geological mapping of 5 km of tunnel, borehole logging, packer tests, strength tests in lab and field and presented it on geotechnical report which was applied for tunnel design.

I am a good team player, hardworking, and able to meet hard deadlines.

Project Engineer

Worked as project engineer at Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA), in 40 Deep Wells Drilling Project. The objective of the project was to alleviate the serious shortage of water supply for the city of Addis Ababa.

Prepared contract & technical documents and cost estimates for drilling, civil and electromechanical works. Geophysical investigations have been done on ground water potential sites, and test drilling up to the depth of 500 meters was conducted. In addition to the project management duty I also have given training how to apply GIS in ground water development and operations.

Worked on Population Distribution Analysis in the Nile Basin, with the aim of preparing posters which shows population density for the year 2005 and projection for 2030 using LandScan, UNPD and US Census Bureau data. I did Agricultural trade study and prepared a Map poster which shows export and import of Agricultural Commodity of Nile Basin Countries using ArcGIS 9.

Transferring the Africover land cover multipurpose data layer into Agricultural land use and worked on base line survey of Nile Countries on crops, livestock, fishery, forestry, prepare database for preparation of various GIS layer. The methodologies applied were mostly GIS/Remote Sensing techniques.

Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Ground Water Production Division Head

Worked as Division Head for Ground Water Production of Addis Ababa. Responsible for operation and monitoring of existing wells and ground water exploration work using GIS and remote sensing techniques. Geophysical methods were executed and finally drilling and testing of water wells for water supply of Addis Ababa City were conducted. Prepared bid and specification documents for bidders of geophysical and drilling companies and did evaluation in order to select the best bidder company. Conducted water point inventory of Addis and the surrounding areas in which more than 500 water points were collected. Participated in ground water modeling of Akaki Well Field South of Addis Ababa City.
