Full operating management responsibility for 5 million bushel elevator of wheat storage with one supervisor and 10 union personnel.Wheat delivered by truck, rail and ship. Worked directly with commodities managers to ensure sufficient wheat inventory to meet production demands. Managed wheat deliveries by ship by directing schedules and meeting Nabisco wheat quality standards. Managed the blending of wheat mixes and movement of wheat to the milling department for production of flour. Managed the departments safety, quality, sanitation and maintenance programs.
* Introduced a series of productivity improvements, process reengineering, cost reduction and performance management programs that improved production output, product and quality standards in the elevator.
* Created lean manufacturing through reduction of rail car demurrage cost from $840,000 in 2012 to under $50,000 in 2013. Automation of locomotive to unload rail cars reduced labor by one, saving of $100,000 per year. Automation of truck dump reduced labor by one, saving $100,000 per year.
* Maintained annual department budget, saving $70,000 in direct labor through reduction in overtime costs.

Full operating management responsibility for 3.5 million pound per day soft wheat flour mill with 4 supervisors and 15 union personnel. Directed a 24 hour, 3 shift operation, operating 315 days per year. The Toledo Flour mill is the largest soft wheat flour mill in North America.
* Managed the departments safety, quality, sanitation, maintenance and production programs.
* In the early 90s, increased production for white flour from 27000 cwt per day to up 32,000, savings of $250.000 per year.
* Improved flour yields yields from 73.5% to 74.5%, savings of $1MM per year.
* Assisted engineering in design and implementing the automation of grain receiving / cleaning resulting in the reduction of personnel from 23 to 15, labor cost savings of $400,000 per year. Managed the redesign of the department staffing and scheduling.Established a committee of union / management that met for 8 months and established a new scheduling format and job classifications.
* Member of team to design / commission new whole grain flour mill, built by Ocrim of Italy. Received an international patent for work on designing the stabilized whole grain flour. Trained 4 supervisors and union personnel to operate the automated mill to produce whole grain flours for Nabisco bakeries across the US and Mexico.
* Developed strong bond with union leadership to establish trust and mutual bargaining agreement for union contract renewals. Member of Nabisco management team for 23 years and 7 contracts
* 2 trips to Leon Nicraragua to train mill personnel to produce soft wheat flour for new line of cookies in the Nabisco bakery in Nicaragua. Flour performed at a high level, resulting in lower B&R compared to other products.

* Implemented 5S to improve sanitation conditions.
