Primary focus was transforming the function into a proactive and consultative entity responsible for driving consistent corporate messaging in a period of transformational growth and change.

Communications leader for the Community Investment department of the $50 billion media/entertainment company. Enhanced the company’s internal and external image by promoting its good works around the country, using multiple communications platforms.
Internally, delivered strategic communications to establish community outreach as a business imperative and build employee pride. Used multiple media to tell success stories about employees and their volunteer activities. Promoted major employee campaigns such as Comcast Cares Day, the largest annual single day of community service in Corporate America, and one of the country’s largest employee United Way campaigns.

Initially a seven-person team, more than doubled the staff as a result of increasing demand from corporate functions and business units. Delivered strategic communications broadly across the company (typically to 25,000+ managers), vertically within a dozen business units that focused on food, facilities and uniform services, and regionally to specific groups of employees in 40+ locations in North America.
Effectively utilized tactics that included corporate and business unit Web sites, weekly and monthly e-newsletters, various print pieces, Web-ex presentations, executive speeches, regional road-show meetings for as many as 1,000 employees, business units’ district/regional meetings, annual reports, videos, orientation programs, annual service awards event honoring long-term employees, annual three-day meeting for the company’s top 250 executives, etc. Personally managed all aspects of road-shows, service awards and executive meeting, i.e. everything from initial strategizing to on-site coordination of the events.
Promoted the company’s food services role with the Olympics and other high-profile events such as the Super Bowl, reported on disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and other catastrophes, and created an interactive and educational display of capabilities known as the “ARAMARK Experience” to accompany road show meetings.
Managed external projects including the annual report, executive speeches and “Investor Day,” a full program of presentations, videos and displays for more than 100 key investors in the company.

As a senior member of the Communications practice, supported multiple clients and developed new business. Consulting engagements took place primarily on-site at two large client organizations, focusing on change management and corporate communications.
Designed and executed a client project to help employees at a regional healthcare provider understand and embrace the implications of a split with its long-time joint-venture partner. Tactics included scripting and managing the first company-wide meeting in decades for several hundred employees, along with creating informational Web sites, feedback mechanisms, smaller group meetings, videos, etc.
Facilitated a client project at a global pharmaceutical to integrate multiple groups of employees from vastly different locations and cultures into one new U.S. headquarters site. Similar tactics as above included scripting and managing a televised companywide celebration event for 1,000+ employees.

Led the start-up firm’s Organizational Communications practice. Drove internal and external communications as the practice grew from two people to 10, with multiple clients including small high-tech and FORTUNE 500 companies. Also managed a major client’s external corporate Web site.
