Position: Pharmacy Technician/Storekeeper/Warehouse Responsible
Responsibilities:
Ensuring a well-functioning of logistic and medical supply according to MSF standard procedure. Also, ensures proper storage of all drugs and equipment in the pharmacy and protecting them adequately from heat, freezing, water, fire, dirt and vermin.
Ensures quality and proper storage, stock management and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, in order to ensure good storage conditions and availability of drugs and medical material.
Ensuring only authorized consignments leave the store/pharmacy and all relevant supporting documentation is attached and filed accordingly to the Receive Order files in order to close it.
Answering questions and providing information to clients and providers on drug interactions, side effects, adverse drug reactions, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
Investigating, monitoring and make recommendations to the Logistics, Medical Team Leader (MTL) in case of delayed supply chain processes.
Ensuring that the room temperature is constantly maintained at acceptable temperature range.
Counsels patients on medication adherence.
Maintains established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
Supply and accurate recording of Controlled/Narcotics drugs on the controlled drug list.
Refresher/On-the-job Training for Post-Operative and Operating Theatre Nurses on handling, storage, return of used vials and proper filling of Controlled/Narcotic on drug list.
Dispensing drugs to patients according to medical prescriptions, issuing of medical supplies to relevant units and providing information on keeping conditions in order to sustain their functional and therapeutic activities.
Maintain Cold Chain by recording daily temperature and promptly report abnormalities. Also packing cold chain items in appropriate cold boxes with sufficient ice packs according to the drug(s) instruction.
Tracking and maintaining records of approvals and clinical follow-up of patients requiring restricted drugs.
Participate in quarterly stock review of drugs and other consumables (both the Mini Store and Medical Warehouse). Taking active support role in the yearly or Ad Hoc formal inventory.
Review the Patients prescriptions on weekly and monthly basis to ensure the use of appropriate antibiotics therapy and liaise with the Medical Team Leader, Nursing Team supervisor, Mission Pharmacists and Physicians (where necessary) to resolve discrepancies.
Ensure appropriate delivery, reception and recording of local orders, updating stock files and informing line managers on their status (shortfalls, over-stocking, expiry dates), in order to permanently ensure secure stock levels and ensure efficient management of stock.
Prepare weekly orders of the pharmacy and different consumption units (departments, wards, others), ensuring proper packaging and dispatching, reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Medical Team Leader.
Also inform Medical Team Leader as soon as stock reaches alert limit and Ruptures.
Prepare bi-monthly expired items for donations to other MSF projects or designated hospitals [e.g. Ministry of Health (MoH) which MSF is collaborating with].
Give timely advice on orders of medical and drug material for the project in order to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints.
Ensure efficient supply to other units managed/supported by MSF according to orders and stocks.
Keep updated records of items received and issued. Also up to filling of the Stock cards.
