Main Functions:

Conduct duly plant inspection

Ensure documentation of unsafe acts, unsafe conditions & near miss observed

Conducts daily checks of permit to work

Ensure management HSE compliance on employees and third party contractor

Ensure HSE management policies

Carryout Accidents Investigation/Reporting

Endorsing (PTW) after thorough inspection of work site

Follow up daily work activities

Ensure equipment are checked and tracked on daily and weekly basis

Conduct pre-work risk assessment.

Safety Responsibilities:

Lead safety by example for all employees to follow.

Ensure compliance with the Permit to Work program and to conduct daily audits.

Providing on-going Safety Equipment, Safe work practice and On-the-Job training in accordance with crew training needs and identified deficiencies.

Providing workplace coaching in pre-job activity requirements, hazard identification and job safety analysis skills.

Report all hazards and positively intervene in all observed unsafe acts and conditions.

Motivate and coach crew in unsafe act intervention and hazard reporting program.

General Responsibilities and Main Tasks

Attend Pre-tour meetings with all Departments to ensure content complies with requirements and assist supervisors through provision of information and advice.

Ensure through daily random audit that pre-job safety meetings are in compliance with the company requirements.

Conduct of training and instruction in the company’s policies and procedures.

Coordinate and report on Emergency Drills, weekly General Safety meetings, 3rd Party HSE meetings and monthly Safety Committee meetings.

Provide advice to Operator offshore representative concerning investigations, safety issues as required.

Investigation Team member for all incident investigations to a TOPSET level if required.

Conduct routine spot inspections and participate in area weekly condition & safety inspections.

Coach and provide on-the-job training and related competency assessment, in conjunction with department supervisors.

Conduct regular theoretical and practical refresher training on fire fighting / life saving equipment and techniques (building incremental development and maintaining knowledge & skills beyond onshore formal course attendance).

Provide assistance ensuring maintenance and operability of all Emergency Response Equipment.

Provide support for Rig specific Procedure and Detailed Instruction development within the Total Management System (TMS) structure.

Provide good clear communication between all departments.

Main Tasks

Manage database entries (Undesired events/ Downtime / Audit records and received Flash Alerts) in order to meet reporting deadlines, oversight corrective action accountabilities and ensure content quality expectations.

Provide a training capability in the Management System for all relevant employees onboard.

Maintain oversight of induction, workplace orientation and management of SSE’s (Short Service Employee’s) in accordance with company’s procedure.

Observe personnel routinely and monitor compliance with all safety rules through coaching and positive developmental techniques.

Coordinate with the Materials man a compliance with all hazardous chemical procedures and completeness of MSDS records.

Conduct internal audits as required by company procedure and assisting in external audit conduct.

Record, review and provide analysis of Hazard Observation reports, ensuring trends are recognised and corrective actions attended to.

Fulfil an advisory role for risk assessment for new equipment or practice introduced to the work site.

Regularly reviewing PPE needs and validate stock item suitability.

Develop and promoting positive work place liaisons, enabling the provision of support and training to all crew members while cultivating an environment of accessibility.

Act as designated Ship Security Officer (SSO) in compliance with IMO International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code (if applicable).

Background of Past Employment History

2010-2012

I gave up the Environmental Audit mainly due the work schedule of too much work and not enough pay and move to a company called Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited. This is an establishment that refiner’s crude into finish product like PMS (premium motor spirit), DPK (dual purpose kerosene), AGO (automotive gas oil), carbon black, caustic soda etc. Although physically demanding, awkward hours the money earned and the life style that accompanied made up for it.
