PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE EQUIVILENCY

TEMPLE UNIVERSITY College of Arts & Sciences Computer Activity Bld. (038-24)

A commonwealth University Department of Computer Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19122

and Information Sciences 215-***-****

I am writing to evaluate the work experience of Mr. Peter A. Levesque in terms of equivalency to academic training in the United States. I have received a copy of Mr. Levesque’s professions resume, a description of the company that has offered him a job in the United States, a statement of the amount offered for this job, and a copy of his secondary school diploma. Based on the documents reviewed I conclude that Mr. Levesque’s professional experience is equivalent to a B.A. degree in Information Science.

I am a tenured Associate professor in the Computer and Information Science Department of Temple University. Our department offers fully accredited undergraduate and graduate majors in Information Science and in Computer Science. As a member of the undergraduate affairs committee I am fully conversant with the structure of objectives of undergraduate programs in Information Systems. As a tenured professor I am qualified to make evaluations of professional experience for academic course equivalence. Having carefully reviewed Mr. Levesque’s work experience, I find that there is sufficient evidence to show that his training and experience meet the requirements of a B.A. degree in Information Science at an accredited U.S. four year institution. This claim is justified below in terms of time equivalency requirements.

As an illustration our Information Systems program is structured to expose students to the following areas of information systems: programming, data base management, information systems analysis and design, operating systems and networking, applications programming and software engineering. Students take further elective studies in specialized area of information systems. Such electives are taken as formal classes or as supervised independent studies or as cooperative studies with Industry. A capstone project completes the information systems education.

Mr. Levesque entered the information science field in 1977 working in business process reengineering and analysis. Since 1988 Mr. Levesque has been working with SAP Business Solutions as analyst, manager, consultant and trainer. Mr. Levesque’s in depth knowledge of SAP’s technology is particularly valuable since SAP represents that state of the art in enterprise-wide information systems. SAP has deep market penetration worldwide and has experienced a growth of 62% in revenues in the last year in the United States. Mr. Levesque’s knowledge of systems and tools is integrated with understanding of materials distribution, sales, documentation and training, knowledge that can be acquired only after many years of practice.

The knowledge available in a person with Mr. Levesque skills is not easily replicated in a typical four year Information Systems Business Program. An equivalent education is achieved only after graduation, after years of experience and of specialized training. His ability to become a Senior Manager and Senior Functional Consultant for Deloitte & Touche Consulting is a substantial achievement and demonstrates his technical expertise and professional maturity.

Mr. Levesque has worked over 20 years in information systems and their applications, the last 18 years in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). At the INS equivalence of three years of work experience for one year of college training Mr. Levesque has the equivalent of over six years of college, this and his experience exceed the required content of a four year degree. I am convinced that Mr. Levesque has surpassed the INS equivalence requirement for a four year undergraduate degree in information systems.

Sincerely,

Giorgio P. Ingargiola, Dott. Ing. PhD.

Associate Professor of Computer and Information Sciences.
