MY EXPOSURE IN GOVT. SERVICE:

Under my headship, my department Team – Comprised of 2 Assistant Professors of Radiation Oncology, 1 Asst. Professor of Tumor Pathology, 1 Medical Physicist cum Radiation Safety Officer, 6 Radiotherapy Technologists, 1 Social worker and a clerk worked with great dedication in the service of cancer patients.

In my 30 Years of service I have planned and treated nearly 45000 cancer patients at the average rate of 1500 cases/ year. Every day 5 to 10 new patients were treated and 100 were reviewed.

Conducted Weekly Tumor Board Meeting to take treatment decision on cancer patients.

Data of cancer patients who lived long after treatment were collected and they were all invited for the celebration of “Long survivors Day” every year organized jointly by dept of Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology & Surgical Oncology.

Teaching Experience :

a)Taken classes of Radiation Oncology for M.B.BS., M.DS., M.S., (GS)., M.S (orthopedics)., M.S (ENT)., M.S (OG)., DLO., D.G.O., D.Ortho., post graduate students.

b)Taken Training classes for students of Diploma in Radiotherapy Technology and acted as examiner.

Administrative Training Attended:

Undergone Administrative Training at Anna Institute of Management sponsored by Government of Tamil Nadu.

Examinership:

Acted as Examiner for MD Radiotherapy in KIDWAI Memorial Institution, Bangalore, Karnataka, 2010.

Cancer Awareness Programme:

a)Cancer awareness programme conducted for IMA Doctors.

b)Cancer awareness programme conducted for Faculties & students of Arts College, Employees of LIC and Bank and women self help groups of nearby villages.

c)Delivered a speech on cancer awareness in All India Radio, Madurai.

Accreditation work:

Appointed as Inspection committee member by Govt. of Tamil Nadu to assess & accreditate different private oncology centres, viz., Kauvery Medical Centre Tiruchirappalli, and ABC cancer centre Thiruchirappalli.

Best Practice:

ECD Register (Early Cancer Detection Register) was created and cancer screening for attendants and relatives of cancer patient were done to the tune of 70 – 100/ Year.

New Venture:

a)Took a proactive role as Head & Professor of Radiation Oncology in establishing a Regional Cancer Centre at Madurai, with a plan outlay of 15 crores allotted by Govt. of Tamil Nadu. This centre is going to be declared open shortly after completing the final procedures.

b) Procured & installed COBALT 60 External Beam Radiation Therapy Machine in 2000 at Govt., Rajaji Hospital, Madurai.

I am the eldest daughter to my father Mr.S.Selvarangan and mother Mrs.S.Janaki. My father worked as Deputy Manager of Food Corporation of India. I am native of Chennai city. I am living with my husband Dr.A.Padmanabhan, Retired Principal of Yadava College, Madurai.

I am blessed with a daughter Mrs.P.Dhivya, M.E (Ph.D.,) and son Dr.P.Karthik Narayan, MBBS.
