ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Responsible for operations, the largest division within Powell Canada consisting of 4 Managers, 6 Supervisors and 5 departments (approximately 100 employees). Responsibilities extend to entire Canadian organization in the absence of Human Resources Manager (approximately 250 employees).

6 years of progressive investigations experience such as harassment, gross misconduct, workplace violence, safety incidents, and benefits fraud in construction, manufacturing and service industries.

Identified the business need and implemented strategies such as training, policies, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and employee engagement.

Extensive experience of designing and implementing full scope HRIS such as Self Service (employee, manager and benefits), Applicant Tracking System, and automating data transfers to payroll and insurers.

Responsible for Canadian benefits for the past 4 years and implemented a Tax-Free Savings Account, Total Compensation Statements, online enrolment, auditing and communication pathways.

Successfully decreased short-term disability claims to zero and held this reduction for the past 6 months. Reduced the long-term disability claims by 75% and maintained this for the past 5 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADVISOR, COACH & MENTOR – Provide guidance to Managers, Supervisors and Leads on employee relations, legislation, processes to maximize production, professional development, compensation, workforce planning and performance management. Mentor Human Resource Assistant with day-to-day duties, HRIS systems, policies, processes and programs.

INVESTIGATIONS & CONFLICT RESOLUTION – Responsible for conducting confidential and detailed investigations including recommended course of action through knowledge of human resources policies and legislation to ensure compliance and to reduce liability. Managed conflict resolution within the organization to build seamless and skillful teams to ensure service levels funnel toward maximizing production.

RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING – Created a recruitment strategy based on competencies driven from core values. Delivered through collaboration, a new hire, re-hire process, and an orientation program for all of Canada which included in-house and on-site capabilities to reduce cost.

WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS & TALENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES – Assisted in the creation of the Canada job file including job analysis to create job title, job family, and compensation to align all divisions. Worked with Managers on resources curves and managing their workforce. Identified and closed critical gaps in processes and policies by initiating change through the implementation of leave of absence, cross training, gap analysis, and flex-time program. Responsible for the annual performance appraisal cycle. Advised, planned and executed mass and individual terminations.

HUMAN RESOURCES INFORMATION SYSTEMS – Responsible for integrating systems into Oracle and building Oracle Self-Service for managers, employees, benefits and leading the integration for Canada. Implemented Applicant Tracking System (Deltek formerly HRsmart), and data interfaces to benefits insurers and payroll.

BENEFITS MANAGEMENT – Manage full-suite benefits including plan design, contract negotiations, internal systems design, implemented new benefits, identified and managed fraud, reporting, auditing, annual Total Compensation Statements, employee education, employee inquiries and administration.

DISABILITY MANAGEMENT – Manage vocational assessment and Stay at Work program as well as all disability claims and disability benefits for all of Canada.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND PROGRAMS – Updated and co-facilitate annual Employee Focus Groups. Current Lead/Representative for Compensation Round Table and Talent Acquisition Round Table. Implemented Buddy Program, Service Awards program, Employee Referral program, Power of One employee program, Flu Shot Clinic, and Canadian Blood Services Blood Drive. Committee member of the Social Committee for 4 years.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT – Created Manager Toolkit as a training tool. Assisted and mentored on the process of creating and executing a Standard Work Instruction program for Canada including task based instructions, training matrix, training plans, and education.
