• Install new Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly lines to drive down the setup time and increase the number of jobs by 150%. Factory capacity increased 80% by installing new equipment, organize the work flow and expand the facility. New equipment enables advanced designs with smaller passive components and stacked active components.

• Utilize AutoCAD layout tools for factory move planning. Coordinate equipment delivery, equipment movers, electricians and network installers. Dispose of excess and obsolete equipment. Work with health and safety engineers to insure regulatory compliance

• Replace manual soldering of through-hole components with 3 automated selective solder systems. Reduce delivery time by 95%. Return on investment (ROI) of 7 months. Install batch cleaning for Circuit Card Assembly (CCA).

• Rapid production schedule updates to forecast the factory headcount model. Work with production managers and supervisors to anticipate headcount requirements.

• Technical support of all Post-SMT CCA processes: selective solder, rework, cleaning, press fit and depaneling.

Provide process documentation and operator training to insure safe and effective use of the equipment. Follow IPC-A-610 standards for manufacturing quality.

• As part of continuing cost reduction effort, implemented move of all production from Kyocera factory in Tijuana, Mexico to subcontractor in China. Qualified China subcontractor SMT high volume assembly lines for use with Kyocera products. Achieved production rate goals exceeding 10,000 cell phones per day. Supported rapid startup (less than 2 weeks) of several new products at subcontractor in China. Developed comprehensive QA reporting system to provide status of yields and to quickly resolve issues.

• To meet cost targets, moved Kyocera factory from San Diego to Tijuana, Mexico. Coordinated round-the-clock technical support. Supported ongoing new product startups and ramp up to high volume production.

• Led a department of 25 to 40 people to support high volume production in San Diego: technicians, engineers and staff engineers. Managed New Production Introduction SMT support. Managed capital equipment allocation between factories. Met targets for cost, quality and on-time delivery.
