My desire to become a nurse practitioner was brought to light during a high school field trip to the Mayo Clinic. One of the speakers was a nurse practitioner. She shared many personal stories about her patients with such passion, that I knew that this is what I wanted as a career goal. The opportunity to continue learning, educate the public, and potentially inflict positive change in the world of health through primary care is a dream come true. With this as my motivation, I developed strong clinical abilities, interpersonal skills and the work ethic necessary to study graduate level nursing practice at the University of North Dakota (UND). In May 2010, I acquired my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UND. The experiences I assumed throughout my undergraduate studies, as well as the years I have been employed as a registered nurse have reinforced and solidified my intense interest in a nurse practitioner career. Through studying, work and travel, I enjoy the opportunity to meet new people and acclimating to new situations. Educational and work-related experiences have instilled in me the importance of teamwork.

In the field of healthcare, strong leadership and the ability to work well with others is of the utmost importance. I pride myself in my ability to lead others, as well as work as a functional team member who assures the inclusion of all members. Classmates and colleagues have been enlightening, bestowing upon me alternative worldviews.
