Detailed Job Descriptions
●Provision of good nursing care to patient upon admission pre-Operative, intra-operative and post-operative care until discharge.
●Responsible in safe administration, documentation and knowledge of drug used in the area.
●Must familiar with the emergency routines such as CPR
●Participate in Nursing Education Program attends lecture to improve professional growth.
●Should ensure that all equipment and emergency drugs are and available.
●Responsible for requisition of drug and medical supply in the unit in the absence of Medical Clerk and Head Nurse.
●Reports to Head Nurse all status of the unit including equipment/staffing etc.
● Enforces and maintain discipline and smooth relationship with co-worker as well as with the member of other department.
●Ensure that infection control practices are adhered.
●Uses equipment and supplies in cost effective and responsible manner.
●Assist in data collection for the monitoring and statistical purposes. Responsible for checking consent for operation.
●Responsible for extending assistance to the Surgeon in performing various types of operation and jobs.
●Assists the sterile scrub nurse by providing the sterile supplies needed to prepare for the arrival of Surgeon.
●Prepares surgical team in gowning process.
●Observes progress of surgery and assess patient during surgical procedure e.g. Alteration in vital signs.
●Labels specimen and endorses to laboratory for analysis.
●Takes care of medico-legal specimen from patient.
●Cleans contaminated operating room instruments.
●Makes surgical supplies and packs instruments for sterilization.
●Prepares sterile instruments, operative field before operation starts.

●Maintain and observing aseptic technique.
●Hand-in instruments and surgical supplies, anticipates the surgeons needs and assist efficiently as operation progresses.
●Arranging the mayo tray supplied by instruments.
●Assisting in draping the patient.
●Maintain the operative area clean and sterile.
●Accurate counting of instruments and sponges before, during, and before closing of wound.
●See to it that the surgical specimen obtained from the patient during operation is properly labeled, and forwarded to the laboratory for study and examination.
●Watching on needles, sutures, instruments and sponges to prevent the lost in the operative site.
●Proper aftercare of equipments, instrument used during the operation as well as packing of O.R. supplies for sterilization.
●Sees to it operating suites were left clean, tidy and well disinfected and is ready for use anytime.
