Executive Director, K ol Tikvah 2012 – Current
Duties Include:
● General Management and Lead Operating Officer: Work one-on-one with board members to advocate the interests of each portfolio and to develop annual board goals, objectives and strategy congruent with the organizational vision and current resources.
● Strategic Planning and Marketing: Work with board members to develop long term strategic plans and help guide marketing plan for all departments and schools.
● Corporate Budget Process: L ead budget committee in creating proposed and final annual budget of
$1.8 million. The proposed budget is iteratively improved to reflect tradeoffs between present urgent realities and future goals. Working upwards from the goals and objectives of the 19 committees and downwards with the vision and goals of executive leadership, a practical balance is achieved. Achievements: M anaged year end budgets (2014, 2015 and 2016) to have positive balance for first time in recent history of organization.
● Development Planning: G uide the leaders in creating and implementing the annual $600,000 development (fundraising) plan, almost a third of the total annual budget. Follow executive prioritization of corporate vision elements and goals. This plan includes subordinate plans for raising funds, generating publicity for the development plan and recruiting and guiding volunteers to execute the development plan. In process of earning CFRE Certification (Certified Fund Raising Executive), expected 2018. A chievements: Grown fundraising numbers yearly since 2012 via direct direct donor solicitation, special events, targeted campaigns, stock donations, partnerships and the creation of multi-year giving campaign. Successfully lead committee to create alternative sources of revenue.
● Membership Retention and Recruitment: W ork with membership committee and staff, expanded and intensified active listening to the needs and wants of current and prospective new members. Create process for communal follow up of potential and new members including connecting them to programs of interest and key leaders. A chievements: Membership increased 22% in 5 years.
● Supervision/Oversight: D irect supervisions of nine to eleven staff members and up to 165 volunteers, including accounting department, administration, security and maintenance staff.
● Facilities Management: Day-to-day management of 60,450 sq. ft. facility including a preschool and commercial kitchen. Role includes managing daily calendar and room scheduling, all insurance matters, private event rentals, emergency procedures and c oordination of all repair and maintenance needs. Achievements: P assed all inspections despite kitchen use by multiple caterers. Supervision and installation of new carpet, flooring, sound equipment, painting and restroom remodeling.
● Security Management: Manage daily physical security of synagogue building and grounds. Create, implement and regularly update security processes based on current climate of the community. Achievements: W rote and received two grant proposals (2012 & 2017) to The Department of Homeland Security. In 2012, awarded $75,000 to purchase and implement a new emergency camera system and 18 security doors for the facility. In 2017 awarded $75,000 to an implement purchase of fencing, access control and alarm system.
● Technology Management: Responsible for day-to-day technology needs of the organization and all technology upgrades. A chievements: With volunteer and off-site technical support, led the transition from paper to electronic business. Implemented a new phone system, new internet, new software database, new website, updated computers, and new online streaming capabilities along with training and supplemental procedures documents.
A ssistant Youth Director, V alley Beth Shalom 2 004 – 2012 Duties Included:
● Recruited and coordinated 200 volunteers, supervised youth advisers and clerical staff, ran leadership development programs for teens and volunteers, coordinated retreats and activities for 500 participants, raised funds and developed grant proposals to fund youth activities and educational programs. A chievements: Raised $50,000 per year through events and individual solicitations; grant proposals winning $180,000.
