Inspect, operate and maintain substation and various transmission, distribution and generation apparatus consistent with company policies and safety regulations. Direct the activities of others as assigned. Be responsible for time reporting and other reports as required. This position is the highest of a multi-step progression from Apprentice Operation to Journeyman Operator and it is expected to know all aspect s of Journeyman Operator duties for the Company.

Aspects of these duties/responsibilities:

Continually observes the functioning of station equipment in substsation. principally as revealed by various meters and gauges. Observes switchboard instruments for unusual operating conditions and performs the function necessary to restore the equipment to normal condition.

Switches & maintains substation equipment for proper operation.

Prepares the equipment for operation and start, stops and controls the units.

Performs switching operations in accordance with standard operating procedure.

Maintain daily operating logsheet on all operations, both routine and emergency, and reports on the outages and weather conditions. Records the hourly readings of indicating and integrating meters, and changes, marks and checks charts of recording instruments.

Acts independently during emergency by performing duties in rapid situation involving, switching, adjusting load and/or voltage or extinguishing fires.

Issues protective tags through safe clearance procedures for all equipment in the substation.

Notes changes in load and makes routine adjustments to meet such changes without immediate supervision. Reports unusual situation to immediate superior.

Periodically inspects situation both inside and outside to determine proper operation of facilities and maintain security.

Analyzes problems to determine the type of repair necessary and inform the immediately the concerned immediate superior.

Performs incidental or related duties such as watering storage batteries, cleaning up and general housekeeping and receiving telephone complaints from the public.

Conduct public tours of station as required.

Performs sub-dispatching as required.

Assists in training apprentices.

May perform duties of utilityman as required.

The power line services Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of work and projects for the Distribution division to include the planning, scheduling and installation, construction maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution lines. Assist with the recruitment and development of crews as well as assisting the Technical Manager of Operations with customer relations and overall strategic planning and execution within the division.

Provides general oversight to crews performing maintenance and construction activities of various projects.

Assist in developing project estimates and work plans.

Responsible for overall hiring and development of all crews.
