Financial Proofreader

Premier CPA and advisory firm has an opportunity at our midtown Manhattan headquarters for a financial proofreader with significant accounting firm experience reviewing financial statements. We are seeking a focused, detail-oriented individual who has strong proofreading skills, including some copy-editing. Must be able to multitask in a bustling environment and handle interruptions and shifting priorities with ease. Must be a team player who can work closely with other proofreaders, managers, and word processors, as well as professional and administrative staff. This position reports to the Proofreading Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Proof documents - Financial statements, reports, letters, etc., for grammar, spelling, consistency, and content errors

Foot and cross-foot financial statements

Communicate with managers, co-workers, and internal clients with a professional, customer service mindset

Scan, email, and apply electronic watermarks and letterhead to documents

Maintain a detail oriented and a team player attitude, and work smoothly in conjunction with the Word Processing Department

Be a proactive problem-solver with a high quality work ethic who asks questions and does what is necessary to get the job done

Assist Manager/Director with other office/administrative tasks, as needed

Minimum Education & Other Requirements

High School graduate, some college a plus

5+ years financial proofreading experience required, in an accounting firm setting reviewing financial statements

Working knowledge of the following software:

1.Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

2.Document management system (i.e., WorkSite/iManage)

3.Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro

Working knowledge of financial statements, style, and formatting

Calculator skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to prioritize workload and handle the pressures of deadlines and rush work

Ability to adapt to new software and processes

This is a 10am-6pm position, and requires mandatory, paid overtime during the tax season, January–April, including rotating Saturdays and occasional Sundays. Also must be flexible and accommodating for occasional, short-notice overtime throughout the year.
