US Embassy, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo – Congo American at Language Institute (CALI) established in 1962 and is the Direct English teaching program of the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy in Kinshasa;
Positions filled ranged from Teaching Assistant, Teacher of English, Receptionist, Part-time Bookkeeper, Office Manager, Acting Director and Administrative Assistant in charge of overall administrative duties.
MAJOR DUTIES
Coordinated office inventory by restocking supplies and placing purchase orders;
Provided friendly knowledgeable assistance to students, staff and incoming visitors;
Made travel arrangements for management and executive staff;
Prepared packages for donations, pickup and delivery to schools and English Clubs (250) in the country;
Planned and coordinated logistics and materials for board meetings, school events and graduation ceremonies;
Assisted the Director in screening applicant resumes, coordinated and participated in interviews;
Prepared bi-weekly timesheets for 52 employees’ salaries;
Involved in the school financial management and served as second signatory to the school bank account (over 15 years);
Assisted the Director during registration;
Compiled all quarterly body statistical reports, prepared and outsourced quarterly graduation certificates;
Translated for the Director and the school;
Took responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school in the absence of the Director;
Drafted cables for funds to be recycled by State Department in order to obtain allocation funds for the operation of the school;
Participated in the evaluation, choice or upgrading of the school curriculum.
