Achievements:
One of my departments consist of material handlers/ drivers of heavy equipment/ walking jack operators. When I entered that department, the hallways were always unorganized and cluttered (pallets, finish materials, and meat racks) creating an unsafe environment at the plant. Using lean six sigma I created designated areas making the area organized and safe.
The production department was making over 250 mistakes a week. The mistakes were coming from the verification of the product, the product code, quantity, and case count. Using Lean Six Sigma, I eliminated the mistakes and improved the production lines.
I coach and mentor my team, I created a “one-point lesson” program, where every team member signs that they understand all processes that are implemented, thus making everyone accountable for lessons learned.
The cost of disposing waste was approximately $2 million per year and I reduced waste 30% by making sure my sustainability team recycled all things that can be recycled, so that nothing that can be recycled was placed in the compactor.
Lead lean manufacturing activists such as utilizing components and driving my department compliance.
Root cause analysis: Department using of the wrong supplies and material. My question was why and how can stop from happening. I created a supply check out procedure and start asking the five whys to improve the process. When doing 5s and improving a process most of the time the lean part is affected as well.
