I was hired as production help as I had minimum experience. Within the first month I was reading blueprints, building jigs and M.I.G welding on the main line. I used acetylene torches, plasma cutters, hand held tools, operated a overhead crane and a forklift. I made myself proficient in all aspects of the shop to become a more valuable asset and employee to the company.

The lions share of my experience was with metal, utilizing what I could from my metal work, I learned to read woodworking blueprints. I used handheld shop tools, operated shop machinery i.e. overhead routers, handheld routers, table saws, plainer, under feeder, joiner, operated a forklift, loaded and unloaded the dock and built beautiful cabinets and other furniture from raw material.

I purchased a vehicle from them, a manager and I hit it off and he offered me a job. I had no prior experience in sales. He pursued me for four days before I took the position. Within the first two weeks I was in the top five of sales and never looked back. I would greet potential clients on the lot and bring them into my office, counsel them as to their purchasing motives, find out their wants, needs and budgeting parameters and assist them in picking the right vehicle for them. I maintained my own data base, did all of my own paper work and almost always closed the deal. I also preformed cold calls to generate sales. I’m a fast learner and have superior product knowledge. I utilized my active listening skills to better understand my clients and product knowledge to put them into the right vehicle for them.

EDUCATION

BAHELORS • STILL ATTENDING • GRINNELL COLLEGE AND SOUTHEASTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

I earned a $50,000 scholarship to Grinnell, I maintained a GPA of 3.7 my entire time there. I did not complete my degree however, I transferred my credits to SCC recently to earn more credits and work towards my degree.

VOLUNTEER WORK

I work with several at risk youth. I do this in my spare time at no expense to them or their families. I planned on starting a non-profit origination to establish more funds, which would enable me to reach out to more at risk teens however, the time for that was not right. I help parents find out the type of drugs these kids are being exposed to, gang affiliation, their triggers and other negative factors that are making them more likely to drop out of school, do drugs, get incarcerated or end up dead.

I help these same youths recognize that they have choices, that at times consequences for their actions may be very harsh and more than expected. I help them with decision making tactics and strategies i.e. see the situation clearly, know what you want, expand the possibilities, evaluate and decide nd only then act.

I believe I am saving lives, if not the life of the youth, then the life of the person they could potentially end. I am very passionate about this.
