Lafayette Steel and Aluminum – Quality Engineer – Lafayette, IN April 2016 – Present

● Collaborate with Sales and Operations to conduct PFMEAs, reduce failures, and increase preventative measures

● Initiate immediate responses for Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions, reducing response time from 3+ days down to as quickly as 45 minutes.

● Train new employees on quality processes, quality at the source, lean principles and projects, and error-proofing projects.

● Negotiated solutions with Suppliers and designed solutions to reduce aluminum scrap rate by 60%, as a part of a Six Sigma Greenbelt Project.

● Established a tracking system to identify internal failures, product and process non-conformances, and this data to initiate several Six Sigma and Lean projects, saving up to $16,000 in 2017.

● Error-proofed dies and tooling by redesigning them, resulting in higher process capabilities and a faster cycle time due to reduced product inspection.

● Trained supervisors, engineers, sales staff, and production leads on root-cause analysis (ie. 5-Whys, Fishbone Diagram).

● Modified existing processes and machinery by first observing how customers use our products and how quality of products affects them, then identified root causes of quality issues and made modifications to overcome the root causes.

● Facilitated workshops on PFMEA, and Advanced Team Leadership for Lean Project Leaders. Advantage PressurePro – Engineering Intern – Harrisonville, MO May 2015 - July 2015

● Conducted successful preliminary testing and coded a sensitivity filter with C++ to collect useful data.

● Developed a novel system for pre-programming tire pressure sensors, reducing pre-programming time from 27s per sensor to 5s per sensor, and completely eliminating human errors. Spira Lab, School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University - Research Assistant May 2013 – October 2013

● Devised an arm orthosis on SolidWorks that reduced peak forces and stress on an arm.

● Assembled the orthosis which reduced vibration frequency by 20% by absorbing and decoupling unwanted motions.

● Worked in a team of cross--disciplinary engineers and built a rig using aluminum cylinders that allowed the user to quickly change effective spring stiffness of a given spring.

● Successfully achieved lowest power consumption and lowest peak forces on the robot. Leadership
