SUMMARY
Fresh chemical engineering graduate looking to apply my knowledge of process design to contribute in optimizing manufacturing processes and creating sustainable solutions
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Chemical Engineering, June 2017 American University of Beirut (A.U.B.) - Beirut, Lebanon Cumulative G.P.A.: 3.36/4.00; Dean’s Honor List: May 2017 / December 2016
Lebanese Baccalaureate, with Distinction May 2013 Beirut Baptist School – Beirut, Lebanon
ACCOMPLISHED PROJECTS
Designed a facility for obtaining fuel from waste (Final year project) April 2017
Collaborated with teammates to design (Using Aspen Plus) a technically and economically feasible plant for the production of the fuel additive butyl butyrate, using existing municipal waste. The catalyst is internally generated and the process recovers up to 12 MW in energy.
Designed a facility to produce the petrochemical vinyl chloride December 2015
Used Aspen HYSYS software to design a chemical plant for producing vinyl chloride. The resultant process has a 38% ROI, allowing for full profitability within 3 years of operation.
SKILLS
Languages: Fluent in English and Arabic, all fields (Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
Software: Competent with Aspen (HYSYS, Plus), MATLAB, Microsoft (Word, Excel)
Reasoning: Efficient at problem solving using organized and analytical techniques
Soft Skills: Capable of learning quickly and communicating effectively within teams
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE) 2014-2017
AWARDS AND CERTIFICATES
IBDAA Competition; Certificate of participation May 2015
Developed a possible product idea for reducing fly populations using spectroscopic methods
Model United Nations Environmental Program; Position Paper Award April 2011
Presented the significance of freshwater resources and the actions required to preserve them
WORK EXPERIENCE
Intern at PEPSI (S.M.L.C.) Choueifat, Lebanon, May 2016-July 2016
Conducted quality control tests and procedures on intermediate and end products, ensuring high standards for parameters such as gas concentration and water purity
Conducted a study on the efficiency of insulation for sugar transport tubes, using thermodynamic and heat transfer models, to reaffirm the necessity for basic padding
