The venipuncture program at Mervo and Essex included theory and practical application in both clinical and administrative skills. During my 160 hours of externship at a facility, I was given the opportunity to utilize a variety of skills including vital signs, injections, venipuncture, IV therapy, urinalysis, Rh typing, HIV counseling, assisting with examinations, and outpatient surgeries.
