Cape Towing Caribbean operated four ship docking harbor assist tugs in the US Virgin Islands in St. Thomas and St. Croix. I was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the four tugboats. Duties included: tugboat captain/operator, engine room maintenance and startup procedures, scheduling tug crews, coordinate ship assignments with clients agent, supervise and schedule routine maintenance of vessels, order and distribute supplies to vessels, negotiated contracts with clients, instruct crews in vessel operating procedures, and general administrative duties. This company averaged 900 ship docking assignments per year and closed operations in September of this year.
VIRGIN ISLANDS PORT AUTHORITY, Christiansted, St. Croix
Harbor Pilot, Aug 1990 – Aug 2008
Pilot ships in there channel transit and docking through the three harbors of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Christiansted, Frederiksted, and the Container port terminal facility. The variety of these ships included: container/roro ships, car carriers, general cargo, tankers, and cruise ships. These vessels ranged from 350 feet to 800 feet in length with a deepest draft of 32 feet. Performed approximately 220 pilotage assignments per year.

Navigational watch standing officer aboard coastwise tankers ranging from 16,000 to 28,000 gross tons. These ships operated along the US West, Gulf, and East coast's. Duties included; navigation at sea, cargo operations in port; inspection and maintenance of safety, lifesaving, and firefighting equipment; mooring and anchoring procedures, and general routine duties aboard ship.
