In my current role I am responsible for Process safety, Scale up, simulation & Technology transfer and Flow Chemistry.
Reaction engineering (Scale up & Technology transfer):
Generating process understanding for pharmaceutical processes by applying a multidimensional analysis using synthetic chemistry, physical organic chemistry and reaction engineering principles.
Preparation basic engineering package(BEP) for successful scale up and tech-transfer.
Design and execution of detailed experimental studies, using calorimetry, FBRM, kinetic experimentation.
Mass balance, Utility and Heat-load calculation.
Experience of Hydraulic calculation and Equipment design of Condenser(STHE), Reactor and Distillation column, line sizing for fluid flow and vacuum line sizing, Vent line sizing, Safety valve selection, Instrumentation and Pump selection.
Process Instrumentation and calculation.
Equipment sheet & Cost sheet preparation, Operation guideline, Technical & URS Preparation.
Experience of preparation BFD, PFD and P&ID.
Effective use of necessary chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques to investigate reactions.
Generation of kinetic models (using Dynochem) to enable prediction of plant behavior (e.g. heat release, mass transfer) based on laboratory experiments (“science of scale”)
Supporting process development efforts by assisting in selection and design of suitable reactors and processing technologies (e.g. continuous processing)
Batch to continuous manufacturing, experience corning flow reactor with different liquid reaction of maximum completion time 25 hrs. to reduce in less than a minute.
Process Safety:
Responsible for detailed process safety assessments of new processes to ensure safe scale up to pilot plant scale and beyond.
Planning and carrying out investigations using standard techniques (e.g. reaction calorimetry RC1e, thermal stability testing DSC, ARSST, Gas burette, MIT, LIT, MIE, Fall-hammer, and Friction as well as thermochemical calculations.
Evaluating and interpreting results, and presenting associated reports and in meetings.
Effective communicator at all levels, working closely both with customers (Ex. chemists, plant engineers) and support lines (e.g. analysts)
Working efficiently on several projects in parallel and used to delivering to tight deadlines.
Process Safety training of new starters in the department, including preparation of the training materials
HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA & Risk assessment study.
Process Simulation & other software:
Experience in Process simulation tools Dynochem and Aspen HYSYS 2006, Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Office and Power point.
