Seeking position as an Accounting Clerk

Career Objective

I want to continue moving forward with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and move forward learning new accounting methods.

I have successful interning experience working at Honda North where I dealt with the stamping and posting of Accounts Payable.

I formerly worked in the Honda North Part’s Department as Assistant Manager. I have experience dealing with properly tagging and organizing the invoices of incoming parts sometimes totaling $50,000 or higher. Our inventory was almost a quarter million dollars’ worth of parts.

I believe that my schooling in Accounting as well as my experience with two temp jobs prepares me to be an Accounting Clerk.

I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting carrying a 3.18 GPA from North Shore Community College in 2016, as a member of Delta Alpha Pi (DAPi) Honor Society. I followed up in summer 2017 with two Microsoft Excel classes as well as one class working with QuickBooks to get more Accounting computer system knowledge.

Dear Human Resources,

I am an excited 2016 graduate of North Shore Community College with my Associate’s Degree in the field of Accounting. I am an entry level candidate who can work strongly with payables and receivables. I even have some experience with month end reconciliation doing a lot of matching and sorting. I am very interested in this opportunity to help your company grow by becoming a member of your accounting team.

I just finished working a six week temporary job assignment at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services on December 8, 2017. This is a six week temp role that began on October 31, 2017 helping them catch up with their accounts payable paperwork due to an employee leaving. I am looking for full time permanent work, not just a temp, but I decided to accept the temp role so I can have an additional reference at the 7th floor accounting room. Laronya Lee and Eliza Rubino are staff leaders in the accounting office.

The last part of my education was an internship working at Honda North in their accounting office. During my 120 hours stay there, I worked with Payables, Receivables, and going over, tagging, and posting invoices to proper accounts. I would work through a stack of 20-30 invoices at a time and give my work to my manager Nicole Quinlivan would then look it over to assure it was done properly and then I would input the information into the computer system. June month end reconciliation was a busy week in the office with lots of information to process, and I helped by doing a lot of matching for invoices and making sure the numbers matched. Then came a lot of data entry.

I also worked at Honda North from 2002 until 2006 and in early 2004 transferred to the Parts Department. There was lots of accounting done in Parts since we held around $150,000 to $200,000 worth of inventory at different points during the year. This inventory is maintained through daily orders for specific parts for cars in the shop as well as a weekly stock order of usually around $30,000 worth of parts that sell frequently enough to keep in stock. Ideally, all of the parts should be ordered on the stock order due to an additional discount on the order. Daily orders are still needed though as it is impossible to have every part in stock. It’s always nice to have every part in stock but that’s not realistic. Working in the flow of the Parts Department with lots of sorting and many different parts numbers for similar vehicles, only differing by a few digits in the VIN number, has taught me to pay very close attention to all the details. In business in general and especially accounting, details are vital.

Your future respectful employee,

Donald Campbell

As an intern at Honda North, Donald showed willingness to help all of the team members of the Accounting Office with whatever needed to be accomplished. He has experience with A/R, A/P, as well as loan reconciling. He is a great team player.

Since I successfully learned my role, I started to work with other staff members on projects that they are working on. I was given even further access into the accounting system and am starting to work on my own asking a question if needed. Mostly, I dealt with Receivables and Payables.
