Working locally assisting Composite fabricators in Planning, improving, and coordinating new and existing products by providing technical guidance and support in design/redesign, improved fabrication, assembly, and testing for each of their selected products from development thru production startup.

Example is Fiberwerx Company – This company is a after market truck/SUV part component suppler (fenders, hoods, quarter panels) looking to improve costing, quality, and efficiency. My role was to train their team of Co-op Engineers on how to Plan, Design, and improve production product with better tooling and more advance materials and process and how to manage these products from startup thru its life cycle with support of product audits, testing, and preventive maintenance systems on tools/fixtures, and molds.

Development Engineer Aug 2016 to Dec 2016

Lamkin Corporation San Diego, CA

During my time at Lamkin I was hired to develop the first Carbon fiber putter grip (patent pending) in a market consisting of rubber/leather grips. With the assistance of the Lamkin team I Planned, directed, and coordinated the design of tools, fixtures, and machines required to start development and later support production startup.

Stage 1 of Carbon Composite putter grip was planning product requirements, best process required, machine and tools needed.

Stage 2 of Carbon Composite putter grip was prototypes and testing.

Stage 3 of Carbon Composite putter grip was first phase of New Product Introduction (NPI) taking from initial design to a initial design feasibility through to manufacturing and production phase setting up the manufacturing processes and costing.

Manufacturing / R&D Engineering Manager Hockey Apr 2002 to Jul 2016

During my time at Easton I was hired in 2002 to hire, train, and mentor a Manufacturing Engineering team to improve production product quality with more efficient processes, better tools/machines, with daily product audits / preventive maintenance programs. In addition to being the Manufacturing Engineering Manager I was also Managing all Tool room and Maintenance personal activities.

Additionally, to insure product quality integrity we worked very closely with New Product Development Engineers to insure the feasibility of product quality was attainable and production manufacturing was feasible.

With a very strong M.E. team to support production I was selected for transfer to Research and Product Development in 2004. The role selected was a New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer for our manufacturing factories in China and Vietnam.

In this role as NPI Manufacturing Engineer I was responsible for Planning, Directing, and Coordinating New product and process development by providing Technical guidance and support in Design, Development, Assembly, and product testing for each product line at each factory from development stage thru production Life cycle.

Manufacturing Engineer Jun 1999 to Apr 2002

Capaul Corporation Plymouth, WI

During my time at Capaul Corp (Ceiling tile manufacturer). I was selected to attend 1 year (1 week a month) of Six Sigma Black belt / Lean 5S training at SBTI San Marcos TX.

My role was a NPI Engineer along with my training was able to reduce scrap (20%) and improve product efficiency (50%) by providing technical guidance and support in Product design for manufacturing feasibility from concept into production and the life cycle of the product.

Example 1 of implemented Production upgrades was setup machine and tool preventative maintenance program.

Example 2 of implemented Production upgrades was consolidated multiple production lines in one for similar products.

Example 3 of implemented Production upgrades was work very close with R&D Engineers and Sales for start of product conception to insure Production readiness.

Miken Composite Company LLC Hartland, WI

Miken Composites (Miken Sports) at the time was a custom composites manufacturer of assorted products lead through myself from design to production life cycle. Grew business from a small garage shop prototyping shop to a manufacturing composite factory. Personally designed and built all the early startup production machines/fixtures and presses. Managed all areas of manufacturing and 25 productions personal. Established product baseline standards and testing criteria for each product line listed below. Personally Planned, Directed, and Coordinated all New Product Introduction (NPI) along with monitoring daily production during its product life cycle.

Designed, Developed, and fabricated a Patented Vacuum Transfer Molding process which made Miken Composites ahead of its time in composite product structural molding.

New Product Introduction (NPI) 1 – Musical Drum sticks, Developed, Tested, and produced estimate 10K units first year. Production support included setup product Audits, testing protocol, method/process production sheets.

New Product Introduction (NPI) 2 – Buel Motorcycle components (fenders, gas tanks, and fairings). Managed existing developed product (estimate 3K units each per year) with improved modification to tooling and molds for better product quality and through put. Production support included setup product Audits, testing protocol, method/process production sheets. After 2 years transfer product lines with training and supported documents back to Buell Motorcycle company.

New Product Introduction (NPI) 3 – Archery Bow Riser (Diamond Archery Company). Co-developed archery bow riser (main frame) followed by Planning, Directing, and coordinating Product Introduction and testing of 25K units per year. Production support included setup product Audits, testing protocol, method/process production sheets. Note: List best product annual sport show 1995.

New Product Introduction (NPI) 4 – Softball bat (Miken HHD). Developed, test, and coordinated the introduction into production at a rate of 25K per year. Production support followed typical protocol with Audits, method/process sheets.

Manufacturing Engineer/Lab Manager Jan 1986 to Jan 1992

Greatlakes Composite Consortium LLC Kenosha, WI

GLCC was a Aerospace group consortium funded by the Navy with the intent to promote composite product production through combine resources of Northrop/Grumman, McDonnell Douglas, and General Dynamics in the support for start up companies looking for help in their pursuit for New Product Introduction into their production.

Managed the lab facility and team consisting of 4 lab technicians and 1 Engineer.

Organized and orchestrated monthly lab training seminars in teaching basic composites 101

class which included VTM, RTM, Compression molding, optimized best practice Fiber

laminate placement. This was a hand on class where each student creates a design laminate,

cuts material, preform, and mold a part.

Provided composite Design/Production consultation and expertise to hundreds of small companies in the

6 years. The most recognizable names were: Trek bicycle company on first carbon frame,

Snap-on Tools on custom composite wrenches and sockets, Harley-Davidson on fairings, side

cars, gas tanks.

Designed and fabricated motor mount adapter fixtures for (Sea Wolf?) sub used for

submersible pumping motors weighing in at 2 tons. Motor mount adapter plate was RTM in a

stand-alone mold. The adapter plate after molding weighed in at 100 lbs. compared to 500 lbs.

for original metal adapter. Advantages were weight savings and dampening.

Designed and fabricated varies sub-scale F-14 internal structural wing designs for validation,

testing, and analyzing different laminate designs for optimal structural performance for

strength and flexibility on load.
