Project Manager – Enterprise Infrastructure Projects 10/2010-10/2017

Project Manager within the Enterprise Infrastructure Projects (EIP) Group, responsible for managing complex aka ‘Big Rocks’ projects implementing core IT infrastructure. Full life-cycle projects from Initiation, through Planning, Execution and Closure. Projects have included:

Market Data and Exchange migrations 12/2014 – 10/2017

Moved to a new department and a new PM role within the Enterprise Data Center projects group. Now working directly with multiple Morgan Stanley Business Units including Wealth Management, Equities, Investment Banking on a large scale 36 month project to migrate Market Data Vendor, Exchange and Client Applications to new data-centers. The overall project scope covered more than 200 circuit migrations. Migrations depending on scale, complexity and risk to the business averaged three to four months of planning and coordination with internal support teams, business stakeholders and external vendor support teams. Some of the more critical application and services included high visibility, business critical global applications, services and data feeds connecting to the high profile vendors and exchanges including Thomson-Reuters, Bloomberg, NYSE and Swift.

New Data-center infrastructure build 06/2013 – 12/2014

- Market Data Vendor and Exchange plant design and infrastructure build to support secure low-latency connectivity to Market Data vendors and the Exchanges.

- Real Time Market Data – Feed and Filter Fabric infrastructure build-out project within the new data center to support real time Market Data feed subscriptions and distribution.

- Fixed Lines – Carrier (circuit) client connectivity and migrations (to new data-centers) project.

Global data-center Server upgrades 09/2012 – 07/2013

- Coordinate replacement of NIC cards in nearly 80,000 running production servers across several Global data-centers..

US East and West Coast Data Center builds for internet services 10/2011 – 08/2013

- US East and West coast Data Center deployments to provide employee internet services including telecom, core infrastructure services, networking, remote network access and an improved IT Security posture covering: Network Intrusion Detection Services, Anti-Virus and Malware detection, Web proxy services and load balancing with the migration of 40,000 users to the new next-generation internet plant.

Manager Information Services 05/2009-11/2009

Responsible for managing the company's Information Technology functions including re-development of the company's web site and IT support for Front Office. Projects included: -Deployment of portal “Consumer Direct” catalog and ordering system. Refresh and redesign IT security services and support: Symantec anti-virus desktop and laptop deployment. Responsible for managing the company's Information Technology functions with emphasis on the initial product Research and Development and the design and development of the company's web site.

Design, development and production release of the “LocalHost” WiFi advertising server, a turnkey, embedded-UNIX appliance for advertising in the residential real-estate and retail store markets.

VP Senior Enterprise Architect 2003-10/2007

Led internal, cross-company and global teams ranging from 3 to 30 people. Responsible for developing architecture standards and ensuring adoption and appliance to those standards by all projects and applications. Successfully implemented multiple IT projects ranging from $100,000 to more than $2,000,000.

Tivoli Identity and Access Management Project: Realized a 30% reduction in new employee, on-boarding, provisioning costs and a 400% improvement in overall employee provisioning procedures, reducing duration from 45 to 5 days.

Governance and Compliance Project: Defined a client background check framework to support FINCEN and SARBOX compliance standards reducing legal and regulatory compliance costs by more than $1,000.000. The “Know your partner” project's global, cross-company scope mitigated company exposure to significant legal fines and penalties under the U.S, U.K and Australian Patriot Act regulations.

Business Continuity Planning Project: Developed, implemented and tested Business Continuity plans. These plans allowed the successful recovery of production systems within 72 hours after the 9/11 data center loss.

Global Directory Consolidation Project: Led a cross-company team in developing the global, enterprise directory schema and implementing the master directory server to integrate directory services across UNIX (Netscape/Sun One, Oracle Directory Server and Active Directory). The resulting standardized directory and authentication services saved the organization more than $1,000,000 in application development, auditing and operational costs.

RBAC (Security Controls) Project: Developed a business case, defined the schema, and then implemented a global, cross-company LDAP directory. Consolidation of all U.S employee information into the LDAP directory allowed all new applications secure access to the LDAP information for authentication, and authorization while significantly reducing development, maintenance and operation costs.

AVP Project Manager-Application Services and Support 1999-2003

E-commerce Project: Piloted and deployed the corporate Web Server and e-commerce portal, Initial deployment used Apache on HP/UX, later progressing to SUN hardware..

Monitored the configuration and management of the client facing web servers and the pilot test and deployment of the F5 Load balance appliances.

Global Email consolidation Project: Led an international team of employees and consultants in implementing a single, global client email exchange and hub directory. Initial implementation was used as a gateway for internal, international email exchange across more than 40 countries, 100 email systems and 30,000 users..

CRM and Account Management Project: Led a 10-person project in creating a custom global database directory of clients, providing a unique capability within the financial services industry for the management and support of multinational clients.

Proposed, developed and implemented a business process and technology to market client Claims History data. The adoption of this process changed the metrics of the Global Broking application from a back end, cost center application that incurred communications costs of approximately $5,000 per month to a paid subscription feature that averaged over $10,000 per month in client revenue.

Senior Systems Engineer 1993-1999

Achieved a thirty percent reduction in U.S application support staff headcount and a twenty percent reduction in PC server hardware, licensing and maintenance costs as the Senior Systems Engineer responsible for piloting and then deploying UNIX servers into the organization. The project grew to become a remotely administered national network of 35 UNIX servers, replacing more than 200 PC based application servers and eventually running most of the critical back-office applications (Lotus Notes for collaboration and email, Contact Management, Budgeting, and Directory Services).
