Senior Systems Engineer
Worked on a server refresh and deployment. Replaced 12 physical servers with 2 physical servers with 4 VMware servers that were mirrored between the 2 physical. Servers were replicated to a virtual server at the offsite data center.
Utilized Azure remote backup and recovery solution for in-house servers. Off-site data center was used as disaster recovery, all users would automatically be able to VPN into DR site.
Moved email from local office to data center. All web servers were moved to Rackspace, this was to prevent any incoming ports from the public. This upgraded security for the network.
In addition all equipment and software was upgraded during the project: Desktops were replaced with laptops; operating systems were upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7; monitors were upgraded from 15inch CRT to 24inch flat screen.
Upgraded data center wiring, including connectivity issues from the demarc to the data center and from the data center to the in office remote data closets for data and telco.
Upgraded wireless from four Netgear consumer grade appliances to an Aruba controller and four access points with a secure and guest login.
Managed vendor relationships, technology contracts, office security and all other office services.
Renegotiated Xerox contract, replacing 11 copiers. This was completed after surveying the use on all copiers. This initiative saved the company over $1K each month for copier expenses.
Removed all desktop printers and connected all users to Xerox copiers adding security for print functions.
