Architect for a unified data warehouse to allow improve tracking, analysis, and reporting on the combined data from the Campus enrollment system of all the Wyoming Community Colleges. The design was Kimball approach. I created the proof of concept design tests by reverse engineering out of Business Objects using Microsoft SQL server, T-SQL, SSIS, and SSAS.

Architected and developed new SSIS, SQL Server Integration Service, packages to replicate the legacy system output from the input of the new core system. Development of SQL schema, stored procedures, and SSRS reports on a massive OLTP SQL 2008R2 education platform database. This involved extensive performance tuning to mitigate contention when the database was under loads of over 10,000 simultaneous connections. Due to high SLA’s all changes required extensive understanding and working with the deployment team to implement no downtime releases. Assisted the BI department by reviewing steps and procedures for change implementation to the SSIS and SSAS data warehouse elements. Created SSIS packages as proof of concept for extracting non-structured MongoDB data as well as mentoring permanent employees on advanced SQL and SSIS techniques. Utilized Embarcadero for updates and maintenance to data modeling designs.

Architected and developed a SQL/SSIS automated process to export Cigna’s client data out of their SAAS vendors system for use as a data warehouse feed. This project was on a very tight timeline due to the first 2 ETL developer’s inabilities to complete the project. Work involved development of staging environment, as the stored procedures, dynamic extraction code and SSIS packages as well as extensive performance testing in a SQL 2008 R2 environment. Assisted off site client team in understanding the data and how it would best fit into a star schema for their data warehouse cubes.

Architected and developed a SSIS ETL automated process to migrate and maintain customer email records in a SAAS customer contact system. This involved multiple SQL 2008 SSIS packages to extract data from existing operational systems and merging that data into the outside vendors system using the custom APIs the vendor supports. This process also moved any updates on the SAAS system back into the core operational system. Processing was handled entirely with SSTS, SQL stored procedures and user defined functions. Completed fill-in work including remedial work on Cognos reports and various SQL and SSIS tasks including mentoring co-workers in advanced techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fulfillment Database & Application for processing of Chase customer rewards

Established specifications for this project through both on site and phone meetings with the client. Sole responsibility for architecting, implementing, and maintaining the database, directing the web application development, and creating all data migration procedures as well as the daily data import/export and reporting. Additional duties included maintenance, backup, security, and tuning of this database. The database was MS SQL 2000 server. Daily import/export was implemented in SQL Server Integration Services from SQL 2005. Initial data migration was handled with a combination of SQL 20005 SSIS and SQL 2000 DTS. Web development was in classic ASP combined with DHTML using Visual Interdev 6.0 with VB Script, Jscript, and HTML. Reporting was a combination of stored procedures and MS Excel using MS Query. Server interaction was handled with SQL 2005 Client Tools.

Ad Hoc 1099 Report Creation for Chase Rewards

A rush project due to the departure of a data analyst. Output was an Excel spreadsheet. Data manipulation and query execution was handled on SQL 2005 specifically to take advantage of Common Table Expressions. Data import was via SQL 2005 SSIS and report extraction was via SQL 2000 DTS.

Marketing Information Report System for Citizens Bank

Architected, created, implemented, and developed the database as well as led the development of the web based application. The database was on MS SQL 2000. Report development was in Seagate Info/Crystal Reports. Web application was in classic ASP using VB Script. Oversaw data import using SQL 2000 DTS and report creation and was responsible for database maintenance, security, and backup.

Credit Customer Behavior Analysis Data Warehouse for Macys

Responsible for hardware selection, server software installation, database creation, performance tuning, and backup for this 500 gigabyte database. Developed and supervised weekly data loading and monitored server performance. Worked with the consultant team on developing the star schema and OLAP cube and was responsible for the data warehouse through its lifecycle. The OLAP cube was developed in MS OLAP Services (now know as SSAS). Was taught the Kimball Data Warehouse methodology.

E-Commerce Store with Online Business Management for A2Z Corp

Architected, coded, and maintain a cookieless e-commerce store that supports a worldwide customer base. This application also manages inventory and sales accounting. Built in classic ASP with a SQL back end that is now on SQL 2008R2. Data import and conversion from EBay sales is handled through SSIS. Developed and implemented a SSAS cube and the associated star schema and SSIS ETL for the analysis of sales data.

IT/Development Manager for MLH Services

Recruited, managed, and lead the IT and Development teams as well as managing the projects in the IT department. Team included developers in SQL, Data Warehouse, Web interfaces, Report Writers, Help Desk, and Infrastructure.
