I am searching for a job in the Lawrence area, one that allows me to expand on my current skill set, continuing to learn, apply my dedicated work ethic while interacting with people. After spending the last several years in the bar and restaurant business, I am looking for an accounting position to be my primary employment once again. I would love to work in a capacity that makes me feel that I am doing good things for the people I serve.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

I have several years, recently, in bar and restaurant experience as well as experience prior to this as an office Jill of all trades. I feel that this combined with my previous finance positions allow me to see the bigger picture of day to day interactions and the people skills I learned have stood me in good stead. I love to be busy, am organized and efficient and I am definitely a morning person. I am comfortable working with people of different backgrounds and different education levels.

Work experience

July 1, 2017 to September 3, 2017 Restaurant Manager, Slice of History, Oread Hotel

In this position, I was brought in to manage A Slice of History, a pizzeria located in the Oread Hotel. While comfortable with the scope of my duties, this position did not equate to a good fit.

April 2016 to July 2017, Bartender, Frank's North Star Tavern

In this position, I was responsible for opening and closing duties, money management and drawer management, per shift. In addition to regular bar tending duties, this venue hosts a lot of live music and other events, which required organization and delegation on the part of the bartender.

Accounting Specialist

• In this position I am responsible for entering invoices for payment into PEOPLE SOFT 9.0 as well as our shadow system, which I used exclusively by FO to track expenditures. I am also the responsible for receiving, inventory and miscellaneous transactions for each of my FO service shops which at the present time represents 11 shops. I handle all BPC (VISA) transactions, which are done by me weekly, as my shops generate enough of these transactions to justify this pace. This represents 13 cardholders take care of billing the monthly, or standing, accounts to various entities on campus. In the AR arena, I post payments, whether they are checks or inter-fund vouchers for the monthly accounts as well as for billing generated by Christine Winters for our various projects in coordination with Design Construction Management. Again, these can be either checks or IFV’s. I am also responsible for researching any errors in billing and correcting them as needed. In my present capacity, I use a myriad of software on a daily basis, Maximo, PS 9.0, FA2, with varying degrees of Excel as well. This is in addition to a full range of Microsoft products used for everything from e-mail to label making.

•Assisted school districts in navigating several large, interactive databases. Identified problems, diagnosed causes and corrective actions as they pertained to the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) online assessment system. I performed customer service functions, including shipping and receiving, assisting in the upload of data and compilation of score reporting. I did extensive proofreading, and editing of assessments in various stages of completion. Also billing, deposits and data entry.

•In this position, I handled accounts receivable, accounts payable, payment application and reconciliation. I also initiated and completed a large utility audit spanning multiple departments and accounts.

•Here I began as a teller, managing transactions, deposits, tax payments, withdrawals, etc. I was promoted to teller supervisor and at that time, I also took over managing the vault for my facility. I had a staff of 7 working directly under me, and I handled all audits and scheduling for them, as well as reconciliation and delegation of duties as needed. I attended meetings with my operations management and made changes to daily practices as needed to maintain FDIC compliance and ensure best practices. I researched transaction discrepancies, performed audits of various assets on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
