I was responsible of monitoring gauges and flowmeters and inspecting equipment to ensure that tank levels, temperatures, particulate content, water content, chemical content and pressures were within in the specified levels reporting any abnormalities as necessary so as to perform corrective measures. Record operating data such as petroleum amounts, verification of the grade and type of fuel, quantities pumped, stock distributed, gauging results and operating times. Communicate with other soldiers using ground vehicles and aviation equipment using voice, hand signals, radios and telephones to start and the flow of petroleum products.
Ten vessels that store substances such as gases, liquids, slurries or powdered materials checking levels of these substances by using calibrated rods or mercury gauges and tank charts. Turn valves and start and stop pumps to transfer and regulate the amount and speed of the product transfer.
Plan the movement of products through lines to processing, storage and shipping units utilizing knowledge of interconnections and capacities of pumps, hose lines, pipelines, manifolds and tankage. Read operating schedules and instructions or receive verbal orders in order to determine the locations, amounts and the time the petroleum products were to be distributed.
Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, pumps, tanks, vessels, aviation equipment using hand tools and replacement equipment. Collect and deliver and/or test petroleum products as necessary to include delivery to labs for analysis.
Connect hoses and pipelines to pumps, vehicles, aviation vehicles and vessels prior to the transfer of petroleum products using hands and hand tools.
Issue shipping instructions and providing routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are met.
Identifying hazardous materials and labeling storage tanks, vehicles, aviation equipment and drums using industry certified labeling. Conferring with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities such as production, sales and records control and purchasing.
