EDUCATION AND TRAINING
January 2016 to December 2017: Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia
Master of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering (Predicted Grade: 3.5 CGPA)
UTP is a five-star Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rated institution
Modules: Production Technology (with Halliburton); Reservoir Modelling and Simulation; Well Test Analysis; Formation Evaluation; Strategic Management; Petroleum Economics; Operations Management; Drilling Engineering; Field Development Plan; Individual Project
August 2017 to December 2017: Investigation of Ionic Liquids as Potential Water-based Mud Additives in Elevated Temperature Wells
Characterising rheological properties; examining effectiveness of ionic liquids on clay swelling; and analysing filtration properties of ionic liquid water-based mud; use of Rheometer, HPHT Linear Swell Meter, HPHT Filter Press and X-ray Diffraction.
I located a base mud formulation, created by Shell and Baker Hughes, to use in the research; I formulated the mud in the lab myself and investigated the effects on it of three different ionic liquids. My research identified ionic liquid concentrations that enhanced the mud integrity at high temperatures
February 2017 to July 2017: The Gelama Merah (Sumandak) Field, Sabah, Malaysia
Field Development Plan
Working in a group of five, compiling some 270 pages of research in a 10-chapter dissertation; in addition, real field data was used for the project. I received an A- grade.
The work included: Well performance and optimisation – PROSPER and GAP; Well planning and design – Landmark; Economics preparation and evaluation – Questor and Office; and Reservoir simulation and EOR – Eclipse and Petrel
September 2013 to June 2015: London South Bank University
Bachelor of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering (First-class honours)
Modules: Production and Reservoir Management; Maths and Modelling; Advanced Processes 1+2; Innovation and Enterprise; Geoscience, Drilling and Reservoir Engineering; Environmental and Safety Management
September 2014 to June 2015: Forties Oil Field, North Sea / Aberdeen
Field Development Plan – Team Leader of a five-phase group project
Phase One: Investigated the seismic, lithology and petroleum system, as part of a literature review, to show what was in place, geologically, for petroleum to form in the Forties.
Phase Two: Used HYSYS software to complete a process flow diagram with various facilities.
Phase Three: Created a poster, presented in a university exhibition, detailing a challenge in the petroleum industry that has previously been overcome. My topic was “Mitigating Shallow Gas Drilling Hazards Using Ocean Bottom Seismic”. I won Best Poster and Presentation Award from the Petroleum Engineering Class.
Phase Four: Contrary to the popular designing of separators in the class, I took a challenge and designed a sophisticated Triethylene Glycol (TEG) dehydration unit.
Phase Five: Simulated a reservoir and investigated waterflooding as a recovery method.
September 2011 to May 2013: London South Bank University
Higher National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
Modules: Principles of Separation and Reaction; Chemical Industrial Case Study; Thermodynamics; Chemistry and Applications; Engineering Principles; (Bio) Molecules.
Westminster Kingsway College: A Levels: Biology, Physics, Maths, and Chemistry
City of London Academy Islington: GCSEs – 15, including English, Maths, Business Studies, Double Science, and IT
Language Skills: English – native; Gujarati – fluent; Arabic – basic
