Coordinated all activities pertaining to bilingual education, from monitoring and evaluation of instruction to assessments (annual academic and language proficiency summative and formative).
Organized and led parent engagement activities. Through creative initiatives, increased participation in parent-teacher monthly meetings from 2 to 120 parents and teachers.
Led youth leadership activities and engaged students in after-school activities aimed at providing them with exploration and self-discovery of artistic as well as public speaking talents. The activities empowered students by enhancing their self- confidence, vis-a-vis improving their attendance to school, academic achievement and inspiring them to pursue higher education and careers. Successfully taught students in grades 2 to 12: began as 2nd grade teacher
(substitute) for 7 months; then, became an ESL, NLA, and Health teacher in high school
(9-12) for a year; the following year, was recruited to teach science at middle school
(Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science) and I did for 9 years – during the summers, taught high school science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). A sense of fulfillment is ever present as I continuously receive social media messages from my former students crediting me for their success in life as determined by a balance between spirit, mind and body as well as service to others.
