Dear Employer,

Over the last eighteen years I have dedicated my life to delivering caring and supportive services to the drug & alcohol and mental health, prison and military, and domestic violence and homeless populations. The people I’ve met along my journey have been the cornerstone of inspiration for me to pursue a career and higher forms of education in the mental health and community social services sector. I am extremely aware of the severe and urgent need for services amongst these individuals in our communities and now that I’m able to help, I’m searching for a company that will allow me the opportunity to extend my compassion and abilities. It would be a privilege to work for your agency and provide services to individuals in the capacity in which you serve the community.

I have gained extensive education and work experience; recently completed a dual master’s program at Holy Names University majoring in Forensic Psychology and Counseling Psychology and waiting for the degrees to confirm to register with the BBS. I have earned two B.A. degrees in the following areas; Philosophy and Christian Psychology/Counseling, and four A.A. degrees in the following areas; Behavioral Science, Community Social Services, Liberal Arts, and Substance Abuse. I also have personal experience that adds to my qualifications. My career goals are to obtain licensure as an MFT and working in low income communities.

I started my work experience twenty years ago, in foster care and group home settings providing care and services to infants and children (utero exposure) exposed to drugs and alcohol, physical, sexual, and mental abuse. I have a solid 10 years of work experience and volunteer service in the alcohol and drug field however; I have specifically focused the last four years on co-occurring disorders in residential and outpatient settings. These jobs have enabled me to receive supervisor and upper management experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling, prison and jail populations (probation and parolees), case management, domestic violence, group facilitation, Medi-Cal billing, Prop 36, CPS, Drug Court, and various other responsibilities.

I would like the opportunity to show you how I can put my experience to work for you. I’m excited about your facility and look forward to contributing to the growth of your agency.

If you have any questions please feel free to call, 209-***-****.

Thank you,

Evelyn Nelson
