Pointwise, Inc. Fort Worth, TX
Computer Systems Administrator
Responsibilities include all network configurations, all Windows and unix configurations, all network and user security, all databases, firewalls, web servers, email servers, email filters, routers, DMZ servers, CRM servers, CRM enhancements, VPN setup and monitoring, and updates to all the above and several internal applications. Backups are performed using the open source Bacula software. Bacula is similar to Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) without some of the file retention abilities. The unix servers are a mixture of Red Hat, Fedora Core, Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, Mandriva, HP-UX, IRIX, and Solaris. All production back ends except for accounting are on unix flavors. Non-GNU/Linux servers are used for development build servers. Implemented OpenLDAP, Samba, and PAM configuration changes to provide domain wide authentication on all servers except IRIX.
Migrated from Unix/Linux infrastructure to Microsoft infrastructure before I departed. Oct 2003 - Jul 2006
TTI, Inc. Fort Worth, TX
Senior Systems Administrator and manager.
Responsibilities include managing other Unix administrators, insuring that all servers are current with OS, microcode, and applications. Consolidated server farm configuration and control scripts into a consistent and cohesive whole that allowed for easier and more responsive administration. Managed the Tivoli Storage Manager which included installation, configuration, and extension of the applications to fit the specific needs of TTI (also the TSM backup administrator). Other applications include NetIQ for monitoring, Content OnDemand integrated with TSM for optical long term storage, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Network Deployment Server, CICS Transporation Gateway, Power4 and Power5 architectures and HMCs, 2105, 2107, and 3995 Storage devices, Gentran Information Suite (GIS) low-level processing and parsing of EDI data.
Wrote a program to automate the installation and synchronization of new versions of the in-house Java application that ran on WebSphere. I was the primary administrator for this application’s software stack that included WebSphere, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere NDS, CTG, and the in-house written installation scripts. Wrote programs to monitor and verify TSM backups and wrote a system of configuration files in M4 to manage the TSM client configurations to include the managing of files both included and excluded from backups, files that are unique to specific platforms
(AIX, Windows workstations, Windows servers, etc.). Designed programs and processes to keep all UNIX servers configuration consistent using a combination of CVS, PERL, crontab(1), RPM(1), and AIX command line utilities
(chapter 8). The configuration program kept all servers in their respective environments
(test, Q/A, and production) synchronized for the AIX configuration files, the smitty(8) menu system, and other applications. This includes the creation of in house rpm and bff packages for installation by NIM. Created custom RPM and LPP packages for installing custom and in-house applications on AIX servers using NIM. In addition to the hardware listed above there was a mixture of H80, p510, p530, and p550 servers that worked together first as a PS/2 cluster then separated as individual servers. The H80 machines were being slowly phased out to be replaced by virtual machines on the larger p550 servers and eventually on either a p595 or p6XX servers using LPARs.
TTI is a global, 24x7 distributor of passive electronic components and connector components.
Created a multi-level menuing system using AIX’s smitty(8) for the warehouse employees to perform their tasks more efficiently when printing, pulling parts, and other tasks.

Cielo Corporation,Fort Worth, TX
Programming, Systems Administration, and Support.
Converted conceptual ideas into indicators and strategies within Tradestation 2000i and Tradestation 6 for the purpose of day trading one minute bars in the NASDAQ futures and other futures markets. Developed significant Win32 DLL's and applications. Integrated the developed systems into Artificial Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic systems, and Genetic Programming systems. Created networks for investors to view and interact with the application. Created networked systems to audition potential traders. Created servers in PERL to handle user interaction with the trading models. Created Instant Messaging systems integrated with the trading modules for investors. Wrote a Java custom application to trade with the chosen broker. This application was used successfully trading futures. Designed, wrote, and used a genetic programming system on an ad-hoc cluster to analyze futures tick data. The ad-hoc cluster was assembled from bare mother boards booting Red Hat over PXE and NFS from a central Red Hat server.

Verizon Wireless, Westlake, TX
Senior Member of Technical Staff
Integrating BMC Patrol into all servers and applications for monitoring and recovery. Evaluated other solutions and determine the next monitoring system to provide the Support Centers with the capability of monitoring all systems and applications nation- wide. Developed a unique and dynamic method of integrating Patrol with PERL. Re- implemented BMC agent functionality in PERL with greater reliability and less resource use than the original BMC code. Evaluated and then migrated from BMC to HP OpenView management systems. Did not purchase HP's agents, but rather developed agents in PERL that communicated with HP using SNMP. While at Verizon Wireless I wrote programs to verify TSM backups for the entire data center.
