Job Description: System Administrator
Dear Sir or Madam:
The enclosed resumé is being sent in response to a Startwire job alert listing in an expression of interest in the position of System Administrator. I believe it will show that I possess most of the requirements for the opportunity you are offering.
I am currently employed as a full-time Network and Systems Administrator. I have held this position since 1998. During this period of employment, I have acquired and developed an extensive background in Microsoft Windows Server technologies including, but not limited to, Server 2003 R2, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2 Active Directory design and support. I have also gained extensive experience with related server technologies including DNS, DHCP and group policy design and administration. The entire server farm was virtualized over 8 years ago utilizing VMWare and, as a result, my duties have included providing support, upgrades and troubleshooting for the virtual environment. I have extensive background in, and am a firm advocate of, file backup and archiving providing disaster recovery solutions where needed. Additionally, I have knowledge in setup configuration and troubleshooting of Layer 2 Cisco enterprise switches and some familiarity in configuration of Layer 3 switches and routers. Finally, I have some experience with setting up SQL database server environments. In addition to my Windows server experience, I have designed and implemented an in-house help desk environment and provided end user support to teachers, students and administrators, involving both hardware and software issue resolution. Where necessary, drive re-imaging was involved after archiving any needed files and profile settings stored locally on the end user system. I have been instrumental in creation, updating and large-scale distribution of drive image files utilizing a Dell/Kace KBOX. I am currently researching methods of migrating this process to a Windows Server based operation.
Working in a public school environment, I have had the opportunity to be exposed to many different network, server and client hardware and software technologies through help desk responsibilities and high level technology support and administration. It is my belief that this well-rounded experience would be a good match to the requirements for the offered position.
I want to thank you for taking the time to examine this letter and resumé and look forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications and abilities in person. I can be contacted at 517-***-**** or a *******@*******.***. Respectfully Yours,
Paul Heimerdinger
