CMG-STARS and CMG-CMOST, ASP core History Match project (injection/production), sandstone Bakken formation, South Saskatchewan. WinProp simulation, Sensibility, History Matching, optimization and risk analysis using CMOST, also upscaling for extended forecast at field level. Recoverable reserves expected greater than 2.5 MMBbls.

Appraisal for initiating a pilot thermal project (SAGD, CSS or CSI) for unconsolidated sandstone in the Bakken formation, in the Williston Basin. Conceptual static/dynamic model built using Petrel and converted to “CMG-Builder” and analyzed by CMG-STARS and CMG-CMOST; economic impact on variables such as NPV and IRR.

Penn West Petroleum Ltd (PWP) Calgary, AB. July 2010 – Sept 2015

Senior Reservoir Engineer; Adding Roles.

Supported, optimized, monitored and enhanced more than 48 waterflood schemes, (1600 wells including 250 injectors). Responsible for maintaining and monitoring 77,000 BOEPD. Technical RE advisor and corporate representative to deal with the Alberta Energy Regulator agency (AER).

Generated reports to the AER on EOR projects such as waterfloods, CO2 scheme’s performance and monitoring, such for Joffre-Viking, an oil field in Alberta.

Built and simulated in PETREL, Phase I of a pilot project. 5 Hz multi-fracture stimulated producers/injectors for a tight unconventional reservoir in Beaver Hill formation, Swan H.

Continued Phase II of Phase I. Simulation of 60 platform wells for implementation of new infill program 2017/2019. Estimated increase in P2 reserves of about 7.7 MMBbls. Adding new infills, workovers, well reactivations and well conversions.

Conducted a reservoir assessment for initiating a waterflood project in South Swan Hill (unconventional carbonate field, reef zone) that included: 3DSL Streamline simulation for 390 reef/platform wells, History Match (HM) and forecast. Geomodel used to improve well completions and well conversions. Increasing P1 reserves for about 1.5 MMBbls.

Supported and advised the setup for a CSS thermal project using CMG-STARS simulator. Pilot developed in Seal Main, Bluesky formation. Evaluation for further conversion to a CSI or SAGD process. Sensibility, optimization and risk analysis done using CMOST. Reserves P2/P3 for stage 1 booked for 35 MMBbls with RF of 19%.

Collaborated with the Reserves Group to update and to confirm company’s oil and gas reserves and OOIP for several fields.

Worked the EoS (PVT analysis) and performed SCAL analysis for different fields.

Assisted the JV group to acquire, to farm out and to dispose company’s assets.

Mentored and supervised engineers in training (EIT) and 3rd & 4th year students.

Reservoir Engineer, Asset Management Team (AMT). Jan 2009 – Sept 2015

Performed field development and fully technical evaluation, including reservoir simulation (using PETREL, PVTi) and OFM, for an offshore deep water field in the North Sea, Fulmar Sandstone formation with wells producing over 60,000 BOEPD.

Monitored, optimized, characterized and Improved existing waterfloods (sandstones, carbonates & retrograde cond. fields) using OFM, Streamline, Petrel and CMG suites.

Identified optimization opportunities and evaluated economics for projects such as injector conversion, infill drilling locations to access unswept areas, injector workovers to increase injectivity through stimulations and/or cleanouts, etc.

Estimated yearly reserves; (MB, Volumetric, Decline Curve Analysis, Simulation, RTA).

Designed and assessed Well test for injectors and oil producers (IHS-Fekete, RTA/PTA).

Designed and created modules in OFM and 3DSL to be incorporated into PW’s EOR projects (monitoring and optimization of about 50 fields). Some of the fields were: 1-Coleville Main, Bakken sandstone formation (Saskatchewan, 435 wells); 2-Cherhill, Banff A carbonate formation (64 Wells); 3-Bigoray, Ostracod sandstone pool (Alberta, 35 wells) and retrograde Nisku Z; 4-Pembina, Cardium and 5-Nisku formations (about 10 pools) under both waterflood and/or miscible flooding.6- Kaybob South field (24 Wells).

Maximized the net present value of reserves and property portfolio by adding/correcting PW’s reserves.

Screened, assessed and performed feasibility evaluations on PW’s assets for IOR/EOR opportunities such as Waterfloods, ASP, SAGD, CSS, SF, CSF, WAG, CO2.

Achieved cost-effective regulatory compliance in 70 Penn West’s waterfloods schemes.

Assisted E&P Teams to elaborate plans for field development.

Designed and created basic engineering modules in OFM (templates) to facilitate surveillance of waterflooding schemes for Penn West’s assets. Coached engineers (Production/Exploit) and Geologists in the uses of both, OFM and these templates.

Performed a feasibility study for reactivation of the CO2 miscible flooding and gas injection in Mitsue field, Gilwood formation, (535 wells, 136 injection patterns). Also well optimization for re-entries and pressure surveys on pattern balancing. Designed, controlled and optimized monthly injection targets for 136 injection patterns using OFM.
