Additional Information

I am a survivor of Severe Crohn's Disease/Ulcerative Colitis, onset 2006. At age 46, I went into a severe flare and went on bed rest for 2 years, deteriorated to 68 pounds, and anticipated an ileostomy as well as a stomach feeding tube. However, medication adjustments and consultations with the Cleveland Clinic, as well as intense personal research into the causes and treatment of autoimmune issues with nutrition, supplements and lifestyle changes allowed me to avoid surgical intervention and eventually get back to the "other side" of health management - again become the provider, rather than the patient.

In a span of 11 years, I have undergone extensive continuing education in functional nutrition and alternative medicine approaches emphasizing autoimmunity, genetics, "clean" and green living and eating (i.e.; avoiding toxins, GMO's, non-organic produce and meats, etc, as well as gluten), adrenal and thyroid health, hormone balance, and proactive cancer prevention and alternative treatments, as well as healing diets including the Paleo Diet, the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, the Bone Broth Diet, the Ketogenic Diet, and intermittent fasting, I have done extensive supplement reviews, product reviews, and reviewed the best sources for the best products. I attend numerous webinars and seminars and live conferences in order to keep current in nutrition research and functional nutrition. Note the lapse in work experience from 1994 - 2014. During this time I homeschooled my 5 children and organized and managed their string quartet/quintet: The Ballester Quartet. To this day, many in the Dayton Music Community still remember the Ballester Quartet which performed through out the community in paid and charity gigs - weddings, Kettering Medical Center and Wright State University Medical School events, talent searches including the Air Force National Talent Search Competition (which they placed first in for 2 consecutive years), as well as pre-event performances for the Dayton Philharmonic.

Through devoted and extensive involvement in my children's elementary and high school home education, all my children have been able to graduate with college and/or professional degrees. One of my children is a Registered Nurse and is also employed by the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra as a first violinist. My oldest son has a PhD in Industrial Engineering. Two of my sons have business degrees - international business and systems management. And my fifth child works as a very successful architect associate and program manager. In summary, my most profound and successful and far- reaching personal successes have occurred during a period of "unemployment" in the work force. Even though I was "unemployed"; I was working very hard - for the good of my children who have ultimately achieved much in the community and who continue to benefit and reach out to numerous people as well as to further and better the career fields in which they are employed.
