As an Actuarial Assistant my key roles include heading all summary or analytically based projects for the Chief Actuary or Insurance Commissioner as well as developing more efficient methods for day to day use of the department’s database. I use Microsoft Office on a daily basis in order to analyze and manipulate data for ease of review and to ensure all data is organized efficiently. As first point of contact for submitted health insurance files, I am responsible for a thorough first round review. I also apply my mathematical knowledge to check justifications submitted by carriers for correct calculations. Most recently, I am in charge of reviewing Medicare Supplement and Dental Filings that contain certain criteria. I am also responsible for guiding and directing our college interns. I am currently heading a large project in Microsoft Excel that includes complex equations and conditional formatting in order to make the process of reviewing historical premium related data more efficiently.
