I started out as a Medical Assistant performing Administrative and certain Clinical duties under the direction of a Physician. Administrative duties included scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties included triaging patients by taking and recording vitals signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood and reason for visit. I also performed other in house testing to include Strep, Pregnancy, Flu, H.Pylori, Blood Sugars, Urinalysis, taking patients for X-Rays and other tests to better assist the Physician to diagnose and treat the patient correctly. Administered medications via injections or orally as directed by Physician.Responsible for calling in medications for patient's, answering voice mails from patient's and taking care of their needs or questions after Physician's authorization to do so.
I was later promoted with salary increase to another job position with in the same company. My new job title was as a Quality Control Coordinator. My new job duties were to review patient charts for several insurances to comply with Hedis Measures for patient compliance with their
insurances. I would make sure patient's were up to date with all health screenings such as Colon or Breast cancer screenings, Annual Physicals with Labs, Paps, Diabetic and Hypertensive patients Medication Adherence. I scheduled appointments for patients who needed any of these measures done to be compliant with their Insurance requirements before the end of the year deadlines.
