PPD, Austin, TX, USA Senior Systems Developer Mar 2013 - till date

PPD is a leading global contract research organization providing drug discovery, development and lifecycle management services. Clients and partners include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, academic and government organizations.


- Development and maintenance of our proprietary system eClinics, which provides a paperless implantation for a Phase One Clinical Trial.

- This system was created using Oracle Forms, Oracle APEX, Flex, HTML5, JavaScript, Angular JS, Java, Spring and Hibernate, PL SQL developer, VBScript, C# and ASP.NET. In most instances, an Agile development approach was followed.

- The system was hosted across multiple databases and servers including Oracle Weblogic servers, Windows servers and Unix servers.

- Technologies like PowerShell Scripting and Webservices were used to communicate amongst servers.

- To achieve a reasonable degree of automation, third party systems like healthcare telemetry systems, pdf generation tools and automatic printing systems had to be integrated with our system.

Salmat provides multichannel marketing for Australian companies such as Woolworths Limited, Target Australia, Telstra and the Government of Australia. What initially started as an inhouse service to provide training to the direct marketing and telemarketing staff, blossomed into providing eLearning solutions to external clients. We had our own proprietary LMS and developed custom eLearning content.

Client was satisfied as this gadget ad could be deployed across several websites increasing the traffic to the client’s website. ASK Learning was a leading Australian eLearning solutions provider. ASK Learning had a global presence with offices in USA, UK, Singapore and China.

The Correspondence School, Senior Multimedia Developer Jun 2004 – Oct 2006

Run by the New Zealand Ministry of Education, The Correspondence School has been providing distance learning to students who cannot attend a regular school due to geographical isolation or due to other special needs. In addition to print media, the school heavily relies on digital media to deliver its courses.

Responsibilities: Develop eLearning solutions. Capitalising on my skills of game programing, created educational games. Interpreting briefs from various teachers, coming up with concepts and implementing them. Flash, Shockwave, XML, JavaScript, HTML, PHP and Flash Communication Server are the technologies involved.

Selected Achievements: Interested a few teachers in the concept of educational games. Designed the architecture of a new eLearning solution to be a revolution in the way eLearning took place in the school. Based on what courses the student was enrolled in, the student could get the whole course created dynamically online on demand. A teacher and several students all over New Zealand could have an online classroom using video streaming. For the school this translated to teachers having the flexibility to create content catered to each individual student on the fly. This enabled the school to achieve significant cost and time savings.

Indiagames, Bombay, India Team Leader, Casual Gaming Nov 2000 – July 2002

This organisation was the pioneer of the Indian gaming industry. They produced "Yoddha" (Warrior), India’s first FPS (First Person Shootout) game. We used to develop games for the internet, CD-ROMS and for wireless devices like cell phones and palm tops.

Responsibilities: Architecting and Programming Games using Object Oriented Design, Mathematics, Physics and Artificial Intelligence. Sometimes used to work on the graphics and the odd 3-D animation. As a team leader, managed a team of 3 graphic designers and 2 programmers. My team was always successful in meeting all critical deadlines. In the absence of my immediate boss, used to carry out the duties of a project manager. Used to be involved in business development and meeting clients.

Selected Achievements: As a team leader transformed a demotivated team, on the verge of quitting, into a highly motivated and efficient team. As a programmer made a host of multimedia presentations and web based games for leading brands in India. The highlight was an eLearning tool for Unilevers, India. This organisation is amongst the pioneers of Multimedia Information Kiosks (MIK) in Indian. 15 of us working here were responsible for programming, installing and maintaining a network of MIK at various locations in the Western Zone of the Indian Railways. This multi lingual Kiosk provided information to travelers on the current train position, train schedules and tourist information for a particular city.

Responsibilities: Programming in Macromedia Director for the Kiosk. Integrating Multimedia and ASP technology.

Selected Achievements: Was given 3 months to program the main application shell. Completed it in just 20 working days. This allowed us to add more features to the application.
