Aircraft Metals Technology Journeyman

Performed machine and welding processes on aircraft; designed, manufactured, and modified special tools, gauges, and dies. Operated, inspected, and maintained metal-working machinery; performed welding operations to include brazing, soldering, metal inert gas, tungsten inert gas, electric arc welding, plasma arc cutting, and oxyacetylene welding. Performed heat treating, i.e., hardening, annealing, normalizing, and tempering various metals; utilized precision measuring tools to manufacture and inspect aircraft parts.

Refurbished 30 J-85 engine couplings, trained staff; saved $180K replacement cost. Repaired HC-130P vertical beam, aligned/drilled bracket to structure; averted 72-hour delay.
