EDUCATION :

Consultancy Services of Construction Supervision for Strengthening / Strengthening & Widening of State Highways and District Roads in South administrative zones of Public Works Department ( PWD ), Govt. of West Bengal, 2015-16.

Name of Roads :-

i) Damdami more to Katiahat road, in the Basirhat Civil Sub Division,in the Dist of North 24-Parganas. Widening & Strengthening of Damdami more to Katiahat Road from 0.00Kmp to 9.40 Kmp. The road is widened as flexible Pavement from Intermediate Lane to Double Lane i.e. 5.5m to 7.0m.

ii) Ghojadanga to Sangrampur road, in the Basirhat Civil Sub Division,in the Dist of North 24-Parganas. Total length of the road is 8.30 Km. Out of which first 2.60 km is being widened from flexible intermediate lane to Rigid 4- Lane Pavement and next 1.40 Km flexible intermediate lane is being Widened & Strengthened by flexible Double lane road and last 4.30 Km. intermediate lane is Strengthening of the road along with twin minor bridge and one Mazor bridge.

The details of bridges are given below:-

The span arrangement of Minor bridge is :-2-no, 9.42+10.42+9.42+2*3.52 (Both sides Approach slab. So, total length of each bridge is 36.30m.

The bridge is basically Pile foundation bridge with superstructure consists of Solid Slab.

The span arrangement of Mazor bridge is :-

10.0+40.0+10+10+10+2*3.52 (Both sides Approach slab). So, total length of bridge is 87.04 m.

The bridge is basically Pile foundation bridge with superstructure consists of 40.0m STEEL GIRDER for 40.0m span and others are 10.0mSolid Slab.

iii) Rajarhat – Patipukur Road :- The length of the road is from 2.25 kmp to 9.53 kmp. The road is being Widening & Strengthening from Intermediate Lane to Four-Lane flexible Pavement.

Detailed Project Report, Preparation of Tender Documents for Widening and Strengthening of Kasimnagar-Nutanhat-Srikhanda road, 20 km in Burdwan District, under RIDF scheme.

Widening and Strengthening of State Highway -6, ( S.T.K.K Road ) from KMP 83 to KMP 102 in Burdwan District, under HUDCO scheme.

Widening and Strengthening of State Highway -7, From Karjona –Muratipur-Natunhat Road,approximate length 20 KM in the District of Burdwan, under RIDF scheme.

Maintenance of about 350 kms State Highway and Other Categories of roads, bridges and culverts including reconstruction of flood damaged roads (damaged during the floods of year 2000).

Construction of Long Span Bridge over river Ajoy, at Vedia near Bolpur, connecting Burdwan and Birbhum Districts. Total length: 770.12 mtr excluding both side approach slabs (2x3.6mtrs). The foundation had 11 Nos. Wells with 4 Nos. Group of piles at both ends of the bridge.

[Span arrangement: (25.66+25.68+26.12+50.9+10x51.34+50.9+26.12+25.68+25.66) mtrs

= 770.12 mtrs]. So, overall length of the bridge is 777.32

The Super-structure consisted of Single Cell PSC Box Girders along-with RCC Girders. RCC Deck-slab with Vertical Post, Hand-rails and Foot-path were placed over the Girders. Carriage-way- 7.5 mtr. RCC approach slabs over Dummy Abutment along with both-side Approach Roads.

This also included construction of 2 Nos. minor RCC Box Bridges of length 32 mtr each (6 nos of 4mtr X 4mtr RCC Box) on the approach road from the Burdwan side (this is presently part of NH 2B).

Protective works of the bridge were executed on both sides of the Abutments by using Boulder Pitching.

Construction of new approach roads, 1700 mtr at the Burdwan side and 740 mtr at the Birbhum side.

Widening and Strengthening of State Highway -1, Presently known as NH - 117, From Namkhana – Amarabati Road, Length -24.24 Km under CRF head, in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Widening and Strengthening of Kakdweep- Patharpratima Rd, length- 12.3 Km, under RIDF scheme.,in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Widening and Strengthening of Hotuganj- Usthi road which acts as Partial Bypass- road of State Highway-1, of length- 8 Km, under RIDF scheme,in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Preparation of Detailed Project Report,Tender Documents and Construction for Widening and Strengthening of Raipur- Patharpratima Rd, length- 23.2 Km, under RIDF scheme, in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Widening and Strengthening of Lakhikantapur-Mandirbazar-Chakdha Road, 17.17Km. under RIDF scheme, in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Widening and Strengthening of Jibanmandalhat –Mahishmaryhat Road, 13 Km. under RIDF scheme, in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Construction of a new road from Nimunia (near Kultali) to Kaikhali, at the bank of river Matla in the Sunderbans region, in the District of South 24-Parganas. to promote Connectivity and Tourism. Construction of earth embankment, GSB layer, Metal Base course (WBM), Bituminous Base Course (BM) and Bituminous Wearing Course (MSS) along with construction of Culverts. The Crest Width of the road- 7.5 mtr and Crust Width- 3.8 mtr. Overall length- 12 Km. under RIDF scheme.

The Bituminous works of all the above roads were executed by using HMT, Pavers, Vibratory Rollers and Earth Compactors were also used for construction of Earth Embankments.

Construction of RCC Approach slab with dummy abutment, Concrete Wearing Course, Vertical Post, Hand-rails for bridge proper over river Kalnagini along-with protective works, by I-Block pitching using brick-blocks, of both side abutments. Construction of both side approach roads of the minor bridge over river Kalnagini, connecting on the eastern side, NH 117 and on the western side, Kakdweep town.

Construction of a major bridge over river Suterbag, at Raipur ferry ghat in 24 Parganas (South) District. Total length: 155.40 mtrs. excluding both side approach slabs (2x3.8 mtrs).

[Span arrangement: 7 no X 22.2 mtr+2*3.8( Approach slab)].So, overall length of the bridge is 163.0 m.

Constructed as a RCC Pile Foundation Bridge with the Pile extended upto sub-structure level along-with Pile cap [6 nos Pier Trestles and 2 nos Abutment Trestle].In super structure, Pre-cast Girders were used. The hoisting and placing operation of the pre cast girders was done by using Launching Girder. RCC Deck-slab with Vertical Post and Hand-rails were placed over the Girders. Carriage-way- 7.5 mtr. RCC approach slabs over Dummy Abutment along with both-side Approach Roads.

Protective works of the bridge were executed on both sides of the Abutments by using I-Block Pitching made of Brick-blocks.

This bridge, over river Suterbag, was constructed in the Sunderbans Delta region keeping in mind the high Tidal variations of the river.

3mtr X 3mtr RCC Box Bridge of 4 vents constructed in the Sunderbans region.

Maintenance of different categories of roads of total length about 250 kms. in the District of South 24-Parganas.

Special & Responsible Activity: Maintenance of roads, bridges and road furniture including road marking, maintenance of Jetties, Helipads, etc. for yearly and historical Gangasagar Mela (for consecutive 3 years, 2005-2007.

Most-Emergent Nature works: Construction of 2 nos Helipads and repairing and widening of 9kms of brick-paved Sunderbans village road, within 48 hrs, making it smoothly motorable for the visit of the Honourable President of India on 18th Jan, 2006.

Preparation of various Project Estimates as per MORT&H’s specification for maintenance of NH 35 (total length- 59.60 Km) from Barasat to Petrapol at International Border with Bangladesh, in the District of North 24-Parganas.

Maintenance and repairing of Bridges, as per requirement.

Reconstruction of approach slabs of RCC Box bridge at 59th Km or NH- 35.

Widening, Strengthening and improvement of riding quality, in separate stretches of 0 to 9.7 Km, 10 Km to 26 Km, and 38 Km to 59.6 Km, utilizing modern equipments approved by MORT&H. and Periodical Renewal works on NH 35 from 26Km to 38 Km.

Rehabilitation of two Bridges of Steel Truss central spans of 66 mtr (Single span), in two river bridges, with other spans of RCC girders at 54th Km and 56th Km of NH 35.

The following proposals were worked upon and expedited for construction of three ROBs on NH-35, during 2011 and 2012 :-

i) LC Gate No.T /28 (Habra Gate No -1),Approximate chainage point 24.0KM,

ii) LC Gate No.T /27 (Habra Gate No -2), Approximate chainage point 22.90KM and

iii) LC Gate No.T /26 (Ashoke Nagar Gate), Approximate chainage point 20.50KM.

In this connection a meeting was invited on the day of 29th July 2011 and the same was held at Habra Municipality Hall. In that meeting, Railway Authorities, local Administrative Authority, Local Bodies and PW(Roads) officials of NH –wing were present and the meeting was presided by the Honorable Chairperson of Habra Municipality.

Further a site inspection was arranged from Habra Railway Gate no-2 to Habra Railway Gate no-1 on 5th April 2012 and simultaneously a meeting was also held on the same day at Habra Municipality Hall in presence of Rail Authorities, local Administrative Authority, Local Bodies and PW(Roads) officials of NH –wing. There, it was decided that the preliminary land demarcation would be needed at first.

Accordingly, the preliminary Demarcation of Departmental land (from 22nd Km to 27th Km) on NH 35 for proposed ROBs at Habra Rly. L/C Gate Nos. 27 & 28, jointly, with other responsible Departments, was held in the month of April,2012.

Quality Control of different project works including sanctioning of Job-mix formula.

Financial Planning and Management of the projects in respect of utilization of sanctioned funds.

Management of Divisional Office as Executive Head for smooth and effective functioning of the Division.

Supervision of maintenance of different roads in the District of Jalpaiguri.

Emergent nature of work of restoration of roads damaged due to floods in North Bengal, in July,1993.in the dist of Jalpaiguri.

Construction of major bridge over river Dudua at 13th km of Dhupguri – Phalakata Road, in Jalpaiguri District. Overall length: 155.16 mtr excluding both side approach slabs (2x3.6 mtrs). It was a Well-foundation bridge with RCC Girder. Protective works and guide bundhs were also constructed.

[Span arrangement: 6 Spans X 22.36 mtr + 2x10.5 mtrs (Shores span)=155.16 mtr]. So, overall length of the bridge is 162.36 m.

Construction of major bridge over river Sutanga on Ranirhat – Jamalpur Road, in Cooch-behar District. Overall length: 142.1 mtr excluding both side approach slabs (2x3.6mtrs). It was a Well-foundation bridge with PSC, I-Section Girder. Protective works and guide bundhs were also constructed.

[Span arrangement: 2 Spans X 40.55 mtr + 40 mtr + 2x10.50 mtrs(Shores span)=142.1. So, overall length of the bridge is 149.3 m.

Construction of major Anchor Span Bridge over river Saraswati at Triveni, Hooghly District. Total length of the 3 span bridge: 67.98 mtr excluding both side approach slabs (2x3.5 mtrs) with 2 intermediate piers and 2 abutments. Foundation of the bridge with 24 piles in each group. RCC piers were constructed over the pile-caps.

[Span arrangement: 20.8 mtrs+19.3 mtrs+20.8 mtrs =67.98 mtr]. So, overall length of the bridge is 72.98 m.

RCC Deck-slab with Vertical Post, Hand-rails and Foot-path were placed over the Girders. Carriage-way- 6.7 mtr. RCC approach slabs over Dummy Abutment along with both-side Approach Roads.

Two Coffer Dams were constructed, below the bed-level of the river, to protect the piles and pile-cap from the high tidal variations of the river.

Maintenance of State Highways and other categories of roads. Total length is 76 Km. in the District of Hoogly.
