Academic Honors

Non-Resident Tuition Differential Scholarship

University of Michigan Dearborn

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (University of Michigan – Dearborn)

Projects

Ergonomic Evaluation – 9th Annual Ergonomic Design Competition

Evaluated the major ergonomic risks involved in various tasks performed by workers in an animal shelter

Identified various awkward positions, bad designs and stressors affecting the human body and analyzed

EJA survey and a questionnaire for the data has been conducted

Using eTools and RULA and REBA techniques the severity is analyzed.

Six Sigma

A case study using DMAIC tool was done to identify the concerns that was resulting in lost profit for an automotive firm.

Defects in manufactured clutch plates were causing problems such as sluggish transmission fluid, the need for frequent transmission fluid changing, noisy gear shifts and the replacing of clutch plates.

These problems were identified utilizing surveys and questionnaires.

The problems were analyzed using hypothesis tests in Minitab and finding out the relation between parameters causing damage and improvising

Later validating and implementing it in the control phase.

Lean Project, Process Optimization

Involving tooling layouts and customer documentation in AutoCAD

The process involved a lot of manual work, we had focused on automating the process in critical areas thus increasing productivity

We conducted value stream mapping, implemented lean concept, and project plan for the lean to forecasting using smoothing techniques.

Vehicle Ergonomics

Driver Package Evaluation

Conducted a Human Factors evaluation on entrance height, steering column, Head clearances of Ford Escape and suitable ergonomic improvements were made based on FMVSS

Evaluated the dimensions with respect to SAE guidelines and the anthropometric data

Driver package evaluation questionnaire was prepared and the subjective judgments were taken

Based on the customer needs a Quality Function Deployment chart was established.

Controls and Displays Evaluation

Conducted evaluations for controls and displays located on driver’s door, instrument panel, steering column

Suggest improvements to the selected controls and displays.

Field of View from Driver’s point of View

Evaluation on visibility issues related to driver’s field of view

Binocular and monocular obscurations caused by A, B and C pillar from a tall and short driver’s eye locations.

User Interface Design Considerations and Improvements

Evaluated the usability of an old user interface design and improved with a new interface

Reframed a new interface design from the old design

The old and the new designs are compared and evaluation for the new design was done.

Design and Fabrication of Hybrid Electric Vehicle

The roll cage prototype was done in AutoCAD for checking the errors

Designed the required suspension system using SolidWorks

Acted as Team lead in fabrication of the vehicle.

SAE BAJA 2014

Design, fabrication of an All-terrain vehicle

Design of chassis was done using Solidworks and analyzed with Ansys

Driver’s seating position was the crucial area; so various ergonomic factors were considered

By considering various ergonomic factors, the seating position was positioned right per anthropometric data

Using influence diagrams required parts were bought at a minimum budget.
