Research production issues and implement corrective actions through procedural, equipment diagnosis, equipment modifications and documentation.
Work with supervisory and hourly personnel to understand request and setting of project scope for issue resolution.
JOHNS MANVILLE, Milan, OH
Process Engineer 2012 to 2014
Worked with Manufacturing to decrease nonconforming products through process modifications, equipment utilization, and process data evaluation.
Used six sigma statistical methods to analyze and solve defect origins, and assist in Root Cause analysis.
QUABAUG CORPORATION, North Brookfield, MA
Process Chemist 2011 to 2012
Worked with Manufacturing to decrease nonconforming products through formulation adjustments, equipment modification, and process data evaluation.
Functioned as Laboratory Supervisor and assisted with SATRA recertification of Testing Laboratory.
Used six sigma statistical methods to analyze and solve defect origins, and improve testing consistency.
Served as the environmental contact for SPCC, storm water analysis, and Tier II reporting.
POLYMERICS, Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Process Engineer 2010 to 2011
Mixing and Quality systems improvements. Research production and development issues and implement corrective actions through both procedural or equipment modifications and documentation.
Assisted with ISO 2008 Certification Document non-conforming material, research root cause of the non-conformance and implement corrective actions to eliminate reoccurrence of the causes.
Wrote the mixing automation specifications, and obtained quotes for the automation project.
Utilized the Six Sigma approach to identify and correct customer perceived issues.
CALLAWAY GOLF BALL OPERATIONS, INC. Chicopee, MA
Senior Elastomer Process Engineer 1997 to 2009
Specified and operated mixing and extrusion equipment for overseas plant start-up in Qingdao, China.
Conducted operator training for the mixing, extrusion and quality departments to enable the long term maintenance of product standards and equipment. The product standards maintenance was accomplished through use of an Excel based formulation adjustment guide that is linked to the mandatory testing sheet. Based on SPC pre-control rules, the required adjustments would appear
in the “comments” column of the shared testing log, prompting the corrective action.
Processes of Rubber Mixing, Preform Extrusion, Core Molding, and Polymer Testing.
Rubber Mixing: Formulations; material selection; mixing cycle specifications; mixer programming;
material handling instructions; and cost reduction evaluation and implementation.
Preform Extrusion: Equipment specifications; Equipment modification and die design that would
optimize extruder through-put and reduce scrap.
Testing: Used correlative testing methods and statistics attributes to establish testing specifications
and formulation adjustment responses form the test data, to maintain quality standards.
Core Molding: Cycle configuration to reduce physical properties variation; slug shape development
to progress towards zero defects.
Equipment Trouble-shooting and Problem-resolution using the equipment alarm files and the mechanical knowledge of the equipment.
PARKER - Goshen Rubber Co. Goshen, IN
Process Engineer 1994 – 1997
Optimized mix cycles of formulations for efficiency improvements. Reduced scrap through the repair of non-conforming batches. Converted mixer controls to a Windows based control system and then reprogrammed the mixing cycles on the new system while maintaining expected physical properties of the compounds. Equipment upgrades included the installation of the VIC-125, Drop mills and Batch-off equipment.
Functioned as an Envoy for R & D and Production to enable a smooth transition of materials that would meet both departments’ needs.
Cleveite Rubber Co. Milan, OH
Associate Process Engineer 1991 –1994
Started and correlated MDR testing of dynamic stocks and correlated the optimum mixing duration for molding the dynamic properties.
Optimized mix cycles of formulations for improvements. Reduced scrap through the S” value correlation with resting time.
Functioned as an Envoy for R & D and Production to enable a smooth transition of materials that would meet both departments’ needs to write test methods for Ford approval using the MDR.
