Approve or reject, or coordinate the approval and rejection of, lines of credit. Develop and analyze information to assess the current and future financial status of firms. Establish procedures for custody and control of assets, records, loan collateral, and securities, in order to ensure safekeeping. Evaluate data pertaining to costs in order to plan budgets. Accountant/ Trainer - Reporting to Chief Executive Officer (Feb, 2005 – to September 2009)

Financial Issues - As an Accountant I was involved in planning and budgeting annual expenditure for each department, run reports, review budget to actual variances, and assist in preparation of monthly department reporting packages, this resulted in cutting on expenses since there is a follow up on what exactly payment is required. Involved in day-to-day reconciliation of operating bank accounts and monitor daily cash flow activities, this resulted in a strong control of cash outflow. Involved in monitoring the Debtors and their trade limit has stipulated terms and conditions. Ensure proper document procedures and complete reconciliation of assigned accounts, analyze and research accounting issues or discrepancies, monitor fixed assets related depreciation, perform balance sheet reconciliation for relevant accounts, and assist with fiscal yearend tax reporting, this resulted in timely production of Final Accounts for Management and outside users.

Training Issues – Basically here I was involved in training all Agencies as regards Back Office System (Accounting Section). Staffs are trained on how to maintain strong accounting systems and how to handle complicated issues. Also train on how to use Back Office System Packages like, TRAMS, TRAVELCOM, QUICKTRAMS, and SCALA. In addition, I train on how to use Quickbooks, Tally and Sage accounting packages. I act as a consultant on matters which relate to Back Office System.

As assistant accountant I was basically analyzing daily sales from all stations to ensure that all collected monies is banked intact, this resulted in having a sound control to prevent misuse of money on unplanned and unbudgeted events disguised to be office expenses. Involved in preparation and review of monthly filing to and proper checking of billings from IATA. Also ensured that monthly reconciliation of debtors is in place.

Assistant Accountant – Expenditure/ Budgets (Oct, 1997 – May, 2001)

As Accountant developed control on daily expense and ensured that sales money is banked to avoid being spent on unbudgeted issue. Arranged regular meetings with creditors to see how best they settled the outstanding dues. Involved in calculating interest income from short and long-term investments, analyze and research accounting issues or discrepancies, monitor fixed assets related depreciation, and perform primary back-up responsibilities for other staff accountants when requested, monitors the organization's payroll function. While in the section, my juniors were motivated and worked as a group, which resulted in timely production of Management Reports and Final Accounts.

Assistant Accountant - Interline Accounts (July, 1996 – Sept, 1997)

Under this section I ensured IATA compliance - responsible for IATA research and resolution, comply with the Prorate and coupon listing principles, ensured extensive monthly financial analysis on revenue including forecasts and budget comparisons, and prepare consolidated reports and analyses of monthly financial information for use by senior management. Proper valuation of coupons was put in place where the company was saved from losing a lot of money, which resulted in increased revenue.

Assistant Accountant – Debt Collection (Nov, 1995-June1996)

Performed financial reporting of several business units, initiated a development and reporting of performance on weekly basis, largely involved in revenue budget cycle as it pertained to corporate budgeting, negotiated and persuaded debtors to settle on weekly basis resulting in reduction of Debtors factor ratio. Recovered monies believed to be bad debts.
