Abdulla Fouad Group, a family owned group of companies, was established in 1946 and is dealing in various businesses encompassing high tech, medical, entertainment, auction, oil and gas, energy, contracting, shopping centers, real estate, investment, manufacturing and industrial with more than 1600 employees with a turnover of SR1.1B. It operates in a centralized system with a corporate office based in Dammam.

I led many transformation and change projects in HR, started with creating a corporate HR department, implemented Oracle HR system, designed HR polices, and pay scale. In addition to reviewing the organizational structure for all departments, jobs and work load basements.

I was part of the budget review committee for every company, and head change activities related to HR such as changing the sales commission scheme and redesigning the organizational structure for every company.

This HR department served more than 23 subsidiaries, JV’s and divisions. As a “C” level executive, I reported to the Group CEO and the below six managers reported to me,

Andersen Consulting gave me the opportunity to experience the HR management system in one of the big four companies which is with no doubt a great place to learn from.

This was my start up job, most of the tasks that were assigned to me were operational type, such as reviewing attendance, entering employees’ data, preparing contracts and processing payroll, etc.

I was trained on many subjects, such as the internal HR policy and how to apply it, how to create job descriptions, and how to manage new employees, etc.
