EXPERIENCE
KENU Consumer Electronics Startup San Francisco, CA
Mechanical Design Engineering Intern 06/16 - 09/16 o Collaborated with Industrial Designers to develop four new products in line with the Kenu brand. Two are moving forward in production. o Developed new product architectures and refined CAD (SolidWorks) models for aluminum & plastic parts sent to China for CNC prototyping. o Rapidly prototyped (3D-Printing, Circuits) new product ideas to quickly evaluate ID and mechanical concepts.
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP LAB d.school & GSB Stanford, CA Mechanical Engineer 01/15 – 01/16
o Developed an economical hazelnut solar drying crate (d.hydrate), which is expected to reach ~10K rural Bhutanese farming families. o Designed (SolidWorks) & prototyped (Machine Shop) iterations of the crate in wood, steel and plastic (PE), making manufacturing & design decisions (DFM) to reach a $5/crate target for manufacturing/shipping. o Created environmental simulation chambers and an experimental procedure (Product Testing) to make data-driven design decisions. During in-field testing, the crate was 30% more effective than alternatives. o Led an 8-person international team of engineers and business executives. BLOOM ENERGY Clean Energy - Fuel Cells Sunnyvale, CA Mechanical Engineering Intern 06/13 – 09/13
o Developed a manufacturing specification for the tolerance of rib heights on fuel cell plates, which contributed to reducing in-field fuel cell failures. o Characterized failure modes of end fuel cells across manufacturers. PROJECTS
SPIN ART MACHINE Mechanical Design, Mechatronics 09/16 – 12/16 o Carried out mechanical and electrical design of a machine that allows users to create art using pens on a rotating canvas. o Designed and integrated mechanisms, actuators, and sensors to create a variety of electro-mechanical subsystems.
HANGOUT HOLDER Injection Molding 03/17 – 06/17
o Designed & manufactured an injection-molded product (TPE, PP plastics) and the tooling (CNC’ed out of aluminum). o Employed a core and used overmolding to create the part. AUTONOMOUS DRIVING BOT Mechatronics 01/17 – 03/17 o Mechanical, electrical and software design of a bot that drives autonomously and responds to wireless RF communications. o Carried out mechanical design of a ball-shooter subsystem and drivetrain.
