The Decision Support System (DSS) function provides access to the Kansas
Medicaid Management Interchange System (MMIS) data and various external
data sources. The data is stored in an Oracle and is accessed through the
Business Objects application. Within Business Objects, universes have been
created by functional area. Universes are the data-models that show the
relationships between individual elements. Data elements are given
practical names and grouped logically for easy location and selection.
Users simply use common Windows-like features, such as drag and drop, to
quickly develop queries.
NPI:The KHPA and EDS have determined a two-phase approach to implement the
NPI requirement. Phase one will include adding the capability to record and
inquire on a provider's NPI number, add the NPI to the Decision Support
System (DSS) provider universe for inquiry and reporting, and add education
regarding the NPI to the KMAP Web site.
Phase two of the NPI MMIS Enhancement Project will be the modification of
the MMIS to allow health care providers to submit transactions using their
NPI or atypical providers to submit their KMAP Provider ID since they are
excluded from obtaining an NPI number. A new cross-reference process will
be designed to match the appropriate KMAP Provider ID with the submitted
NPI and Modify the DSS to include the NPI in the appropriate DSS Universes
to allow reporting by NPI.

Responsibilities-
. Interacting with Report Users and Business Analysts to understand and
document the Requirements and translate these to Technical
Specifications for Designing Universes and Business Object Reports.
. Designing new Universes using features like Check Integrity, Aliases,
Loops, Contexts, and Joins and finally creating the Objects
(Dimensions, Measures and Details), which are grouped into Classes.
. Maintaining Universes and Reports using Business Objects Best
Practices in multiple Environments (Development, Test and Production).
. Knowledge in coding with VBA macros.
. Creating and Formatting the Reports as per the Users Requirements using
the features in Business Objects like Master/Detail, Charts, Cross tabs,
Slice and Dice, Drill down, @functions to analyze the data. Creating and
distributing Report Templates to Users. Web-Enabling the Reports using
Web Intelligence.
. Developed Business objects reports using VBA macros.
. Successfully implemented export to excel feature in business objects
using VBA macros.
. Involved in Business Objects Support, Problem Solving, Trouble
shooting and developing End User Notes.
. Developed Various Types of reports like blank reports, cross tab
reports, subreports in Crystal reports.
. Managing security by Adding, Enabling, Disabling and Deleting of
Users/Groups and the granting of privileges using Supervisor.
. Generated Test data for identifying Valid data, Invalid data, Partial
data, Bad data and Reported / Tracked defects using Star Team.
