Senior Management

Resourceful, innovative professional with over 20 years General, Operations and Supply Chain Management experience within domestic and international arenas. Held P&L responsibilities. Expertise in initiating projects and programs that boost efficiency and productivity while enhancing employee communications. A true Turnaround Champion with proven skills in analysis, management, strategic planning, motivation, coordination, building and improvement of operations through policies that promote a team-based work atmosphere, superior customer relations, and a positive effect on the corporate bottom line.

Selected Responsibilities and Accomplishments

Managed all aspects of a company location including development of business plans, recruitment, hiring and training of staff, budgeting, P&L, scheduling work and activities, establishing policies and procedures, procurement of equipment and supplies, performance evaluations, client relations, and motivation of employees.

Increased efficiencies through review of the company’s inventory in 5 different locations. Put a plan in place to centralize the inventory into 1 location. Identified new central location facility, consolidated inventory and moved the distribution center with little or no effect on daily operations. Inventory accuracy and customer service improved dramatically.

Dealt with the recovery of a burned manufacturing facility in Mexico that had impacted overall company capacity. Partnered with other facility to shift styles between factories and hemispheres to recuperate the lost capacity. Successfully recovered product in-stocks and safety stocks months before anticipated.

Took-on a company location with poor performance and housekeeping that was considered a 3-year turnaround project. Sat down with all managers and stakeholders to review previous results, expectations and limitations. Put forth a plan that changed staffing, accountabilities and standard operating procedures that completed the project in a 9-month period.

Enhanced morale through promotion of a team-based work atmosphere. Provided assignments of increased responsibility along with opportunities for additional training and challenging performance incentives that encourage a sense of ownership in the overall operation.

Improved customer satisfaction by negotiating with a supplier to provide outstanding product supply through leveraging higher volumes and better use of down periods. Changes made increased product quality and deliveries made at a lower cost.

Increased profitability by partnering with merchandising and design to limit fabric introductions, extend other product life cycles and eliminate others. Succeeded in decreasing introductions by 70%, lowering cost on new introductions while increasing volumes of remaining fabrics.

Coached my team in the importance of a healthy and safe work environment no matter where in the world our factory was located. Educated managerial staff in many locations of the company’s commitment to these principles resulting in passing grades in all audits, and the VF Star Award twice for our efforts.

Communicated the importance of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to staff for our customers to be serviced, for the inventory to flow properly and for Team Members to receive yearly bonuses. Honest and upfront communication to associated personnel yielded 100% KPI’s for 3 years straight.

Advised a dry & wet finishing facility in Mexico that was running over 5% irregular rates after the laundry process. Observed production and workplace policies for a 1 month period and introduced a number of changes, in cooperation with sewing, finishing and QC, that moved the irregular rate to below budgeted levels with 2 months.

Improved company public relations and inventory levels by partnering with a number of non-profits to donate clothing to areas impacted by hurricanes in the Southeastern US in 2004. Over $600K of goods were removed from the books and given to folks in need.

Observed a company location with quality levels below 94% causing schedule misses and excess fabric requests. Researched best practices and combined the aspects of a modular manufacturing quality system with individual pay incentives that improved quality to over the 98% acceptance rate along with employee morale and customer service.

Partnered with Information Technology to create weekly reports wherein data could be fed into databases and spreadsheets. New tools reduced production planning and budgeting from 3 – 4 days to less than a day.

Reviewed a finished goods warehouse out of space and having inventory accuracy problems. Audited inbound, outbound, quality of work and put-away processes. Restructured the layout of the warehouse to maximize rack utilization while putting in place a new inbound process that eliminated touch points boosting inventory efficiencies.

Took the time to listen to managerial staff at international company locations in need of performance and/or product quality increases. Walked through numerous work-flows to better understand the local production. Many times it was found that what these managers thought they needed to do was actually different than simple changes that could be implemented improving results, communications and respect.
