Boiler Controls and Instrumentation Upgrade, National Institutes of Health, Maryland
My responsibilities included project management and design on an industrial boiler with $2 million in instrumentation and control system upgrades for the National Institutes of Health. I developed and oversaw the combustion and burner management control systems for the ControlLogix hardware and software as well as managed instrument and electrical technicians during installation. This included loop checking, commissioning and final tuning. BENJAMIN JOSEPH KUHLMAN
PAGE TWO
Tire Handling Upgrade, Michelin Inc., Alabama
I served as the manager and technical lead for design activities with a project team for specification, electrical design, PLC and HMI design, simulation and final commissioning. I then managed coordination for a simulation vendor in Europe to perform extensive factory acceptance testing prior to commissioning. This entailed supervision of a dual shift commissioning schedule for an internal team and external electrical contractors. Greenfield 840 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant, Woodgroup Inc., Middle East
I worked as the lead startup engineer for BOP (Balance of Plant) control system consisting of a 5,000 I/O points as well as various network interfaces to plant auxiliary systems. To complete this project, I traveled to the Middle East for commissioning activities which included plant networking, I/O checkout, plant system startup, server installation, cybersecurity procedures, process historian and final plant acceptance testing. Bottling Line Upgrades, PepsiCo Inc., Various Locations.
As part of this project I developed PLC and HMI for line integration of beverage lines. Integration involved interface with different vendors on network and hardwired integration of process machines including a blow molder, labeler, filler and case packer. Oil Separation and Transfer Upgrades, Chevron, California.
Project engineer responsible for Panelview, ControlLogix, and AAdvance process safety shutdown applications. The project included the design of electrical panels and participation in system commissioning.
Commercial Engineer, Rockwell Automation, Cleveland, Ohio.
I supported PLC controller products with specific focus on ControlLogix redundancy. Work entailed customer solutions for issues with firmware and applications. I participated in customer meetings as a recognized product expert for customer engagement regarding large sales opportunities.
New Assembly Line, Toyota, South Africa
Project engineer responsible for a Toyota final assembly plant in South Africa. I worked on an Andon system, quality tracking and a vehicle tracking system with PLC, HMI, and relational databases. This included participation in system installs with local engineering resources to complete electrical installation and checkout.
